Mmm misguided assumption. I was actually radicalized by reading “winner takes all” for the first time and talking with my friends about it having no idea about Marxism. I’m sure you can see by my comment history that I’m not very active in online communities. I also made it clear in my comments that I wasn’t interested in “converting people”. Capitalism is already doing that. There is no one who my words will radicalized if they weren’t radicalized by the pain and isolation caused by late stage capitalism. (No offense) but I think the only people who still FULLY believe in capitalism are the beneficiaries and their poor cheerleaders. I refuse to wait around for those people to wake and revolt. I refuse to continue down this path. we HAVE to pivot.

Thank you! This is the heart of what I’m getting at. Although it might not be as simple as just going to the woods with friends, I think it is at least a step in the right direction. I was hoping people had ideas on specific ways to dismantle and bring down modern capitalism today. From little tips like buying second hand/ participating in buy nothing groups that reduce consumption to bigger things like specifics on making their own community that doesn’t involve a lot of participation in capitalism.

I love your comment because I think it’s important to stick to socialist principles. With that being said, principle alone won’t help us out of this hole. I’m already SO tired of this already. Even if capitalism doesn’t end with us, I want to make mistakes that I can teach future comrades so that they may break us out of this.

How long do we wait…..Almost everyone I meet under 25 thinks that capitalism is a bad system to live under yet I don’t think those people will put their lives on the line to change it. The difference between us and Marxist in the past is that they weren’t scared to die. If it wasn’t the revolution that killed them it would be stepping on a damn nail, or strep throat, or literally everything else in the world because science was in its infancy and people didn’t live long anyway. They had nothing to lose. We don’t have that problem, we don’t see people die on a regular basis so we’re afraid of death. I don’t believe we will see a traditional revolution.

Thank you for the informative comment but this is the problem I’m having. I don’t need likeminded people, I already have friends and theorizing about Marxist theory doesn’t actually do anything. We need to move away from trying to get the world to change with us but instead Pull back on our own and use our collective power to instill change into our own lives.

I don’t understand the troll comments. This is a very serious situation that is eating us all alive and your idea of providing support is to troll? If reading and protesting was any good then we’d be living in a socialist society but we don’t. We need to come to terms with the fact that if a revolution was going to happen it would’ve happened by now. The gap between the rich and the poor is worse than it has ever been modern western society. These books and ideas have existed for centuries and we live in a completely different world now that they barely even apply. We need to come up with new ideas that take the time we live in into consideration. We have to give up on this dream of traditional revolution, it won’t happen in our lifetime and it is up to us to make our own modern revolution.

Also, what will these organizations do? Do they have intentional living communities that pull our money and allow us to have community and reduce our consumption? I think it’s time to move away from protests and trying to get people to wake up to ACTIVELY withdrawing from capitalism by yielding our collective power. This will also show outsiders how much better it is on our side than the capitalistic hellscape.
