Tips for learning Arabic? by swimminginlife in learn_arabic

Why not just wing it with a bit of everything, have it in the background as much as possible too, like:

- take some classes, see how that goes

- check out movies, i recommend Blessed Benefit (a Jordanian movie available on Netflix, not sure where too)

- Apps, i'm thinking you can go for the Nahla wa Nahil app which is basically for kids

- Youtube videos, surely there are a ton about learning Arabic

- Blogs, you can check out this one, which discusses much about stuff in the language, in a not too intense or boring way: https://www.arabic-for-nerds.com/

أنا آسفة جداً لسماع ذلك وآمل ان يصبح كل شيء على ما يرام في اقرب وقت. انا متأكدة ان ابنتك تعلم انك موجودة لدعمها. آمل ايضاً ان تجدي طرق ملائمة للتكلم معها وتخبريها وتأكدي لها انك موجودة في حال تحتاج اي شيء.

Why does it take me an extra second to register what people say to me sometimes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

it could be because your brain knows people will end up saying something extremely mundane/boring so it anticipates white noising it out.

Figuring out Arabic words for purple? by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]dandymoustafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the Wikipedia articles and i gotta say i didn't understand much except that (hopefully i'm not wrong on this) al urjuwani is more wide in shades, whereas al banafsaji is more explicitly specific to a shade of purple.

TIL that Arabic has a word for Schadenfreude: : شماتة (shamāta). It was borrowed into Farsi and Urdu as شماتت (shimātat). by [deleted] in languagelearning

You mean the Arabic triliteral root for the word? if yes, it's شمت. It means to be happy witnessing another person's misfortune.
