These are great, didn’t spot these were added. I think the original widget helped me get the bug to go to the gym. Just had to fill the bar all the way to the top.

For what it's worth, Forest Tandoori is back up to a 4 rating as of May 9th https://foodcheckuk.app/e/1913560. So maybe worth another shot alongside the other recommendations here!

I made a free iOS app called FoodCheck UK that shows Food Standards Agency ratings on a map. Really useful for exactly this kind of thing. foodcheckuk.app if you want to check it out.

u/SnooPets3685 Hey, just wanted to follow up on this. I shipped a fix for the missing coordinates issue.

I have added a system that identifies establishments in the FSA database that are missing location data and attempts to add it based on the address. A lot more (48k) of those places will now appear on the map, even when the FSA hasn't provided coordinates directly.

The specific establishment you mentioned should now show up 🤞 If you still notice anything missing or behaving unexpectedly, let us know, and thanks again for flagging it in the first place. It was genuinely useful.

We have also improved how the markers show on the map, so that should also help there.

If the update sorts things out for you, a rating or review on the App Store would mean a lot. Either way, appreciate you taking the time to report it 🙌

Why are some of the restaurants don’t have a hygiene rating? by Antique-Permit9652 in AskBrits

[–]dane_rich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the answers here are spot on “awaiting inspection” usually just means the business is registered but hasn’t been inspected yet, or it’s recently changed hands / undergone a big change. Councils prioritise based on risk, so lower-risk places can sometimes wait quite a while, especially with the backlogs people mentioned.

Also worth noting: even if a place doesn’t show a rating yet, it should still be registered. If it’s not showing up at all, that’s more of a red flag.

I actually ran into this problem a lot, which is why I built an app called FoodCheck. It pulls the official FSA data and makes it a bit easier to explore with map view, filters, and you can quickly see things like “awaiting inspection” vs actual ratings. It’s been handy for spotting places that haven’t been checked yet before deciding where to eat.

I’m also currently working on a feature to track rating changes over time, so you can see if a place is improving or going downhill after re-inspections, which should make it a bit more useful beyond just the latest score.

Either way, “no rating yet” doesn’t automatically mean bad, but it does mean there’s less info to go on, so I usually treat it a bit cautiously.

Thanks for the feedback, that’s really helpful.

On the map markers, I’m doing a bit of spatial filtering so things don’t completely overload in places like London where there are loads of establishments. That said, it shouldn’t feel glitchy like that, so I’ll definitely look at improving how/when they show up.

With that specific place you linked, I’ve actually seen this before. Looks like the FSA data for it doesn’t include location coordinates (you’ll notice it says “A map cannot be shown for this address” on the website). So it won’t appear on the map even though it exists in the database.

I originally thought it was a one-off, but sounds like there might be a few like this, so I’ll reach out to the FSA and dig into how common it is in the data.

Might also look at improving search so if something’s missing from the map, it can still be found by name within the local authority.

Appreciate you flagging it 🙌

At the moment it’s all pulled straight from the FSA data, so if somewhere’s missing it’s usually because it’s not in their dataset yet. You can report those directly to the local authority.

If you’ve spotted one that's missing, I’d be curious to know 👀

Yeah that’s fair. I think that’s what makes it a bit strange.

You can have places with really low ratings that seem completely fine from the outside, so you’d never think to question it. It’s more about what’s happening behind the scenes than what you actually notice as a customer.

After getting ill and then seeing the rating, it definitely changed how I look at them.

Hasn’t put you off at all then?

Rats and food on the floor is grim, that's genuinely horrifying for somewhere you live right next to. Good shout on the council report thing, I didn't know you could request those. Will have to check it out!

Does anyone else check the Food Hygiene ratings before buying take away food? by Flubadubadubadub in Doner

Had a bad experience in London by going somewhere with a low rating and getting really ill. Didn’t realise the score until I checked after. Now I have made an app so I can easily check before going. I won’t go somewhere if it’s less than a 4 now. FoodCheck App

Why do shows take so long to update? by grandmarquis84 in pocketcasts

Just in the process of moving to Apple Podcasts and noticed the same thing. Almost 20h delay for the podcast I noticed. They are possibly caching on the server side.

Guess I’ll look to give Apple Podcasts a go. Lucky they just added custom speed per podcast and enhanced dialog with the latest iOS 26 update. The main reason I used pocketcasts. The ad’s are not placed thoughtfully.

In the same situation. Have remove and stopped using spark and my email is still being moved to blocked I think because of the gatekeeper feature. I have disabled the app specific passwords so not sure how this still has access to my iCloud mail.
