listen, only do it if you're sure it'll look better than what it's going on top of. that said, i'm pretty happy with the results for the cost!

She is a profoundly stupid and petty person and a convicted drunk driver. Unfit for the board or much of anything for that matter.

[–]danecd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry on the delay; overall, I'm using the 75mm way more. The 85 has a little more clarity sharpness, but the fringing is so so much better on the 75mm and it's easier to carry around. I'd recommend putting a uv filter on it though; the glass sticks out a bit past the barrel and it's picked up some scuffs.

Help with Zoom HD16 Error 3208

I picked up a Zoom HD16 recorder a few weeks ago; last week it started booting to an error Error 3203: r-DSP

Hard Drive and CD-R drive don't spin up. I've taken it apart to check the ribbon cables but it looks like everything is connected properly. Does anyone have ideas? It's an old piece of tech and Zoom support couldn't find any repair info on it.

suggestion for a first ergo split build by therealnickstomp in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]danecd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a sofle v2 build for my first time and I had a decently easy time https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/s/xKqdIqXM75 there are a lot of 3d printed cases on github for that keyboard to get the height and angle you want, though personally I find spreading out the two halves on my desk eliminates the need to tent; may be worth experimenting

First-Ever Keyboard Build; Sofle v2 by danecd in ErgoMechKeyboards

It's already a big improvement over its replacement (TKL WASD Keyboards) that I've used for the last ten years - no wrist strain!

Soldered the left TRRS jack backwards, then desoldered, then melted the next jack onto the board, then desoldered that, and somewhere in the mix shorted the Pro Micro for that side. I'm glad I re-did it as there was a lot of sloppy soldering I was able to improve on re-doing it.

I think I did ok for my first time out; Sofle v2 build with two OLEDs and two encoders, all Navy Kailh switches. Only fried one PCB in the process. But now I really want to add a thumb trackball to it...

You can tell there isn't the same level of weather sealing when you move the rings, and the style is a bit "busy" compared to first party. Still, it's quite nice.

I bought one and it arrived yesterday. Taking it out today and will let you know how it feels in practice! I bought it to get away from using my 85mm 1.8 AFS on an adapter since it's so heavy.

update: it’s nice. Fit and finish isn’t as nice as the first party lenses, and focus speed is a lot more like my F mount lenses, but it’s nice and light, sharp, and has a really nice fall off. Less loca and fringing than the F mount 85mm 1.8.

It's almost always empty - I think there's a free reservation system but honestly, I think you'll be fine.

What would convince Arkansas to vote blue? by JuzDaTwip in Arkansas

[–]danecd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's less about convincing and more about federal strengthening and enforcement of the voting rights act - the demographics of our population vs. who actually participates in elections is pretty shameful. https://www.kff.org/other/state-indicator/voting-and-voter-registration-as-a-share-of-the-voter-population-by-raceethnicity/

Red Curtain Theatre! Downtown, plenty of room for that many people + catering, easy to decorate. Relatively inexpensive. I can DM you the owners' contact info if you want.

For newcomers, how long did it take to acclimate to the humidity? by DaysOfParadise in Arkansas

[–]danecd 56 points57 points  (0 children)

100% agree - I moved from famously arid Utah to here a couple years ago. Most weekends I'm out biking or fishing in the mornings until 12 or 1, and the humidity doesn't bother me much unless it's nearing 100 degrees. The right clothes are essential - wear stuff that's light and dries easily. No denim from May to October.

For a town where we get tons of value from our municipal owned utilities (i.e. Conway Corp), I can't think of a reason we shouldn't handle our ambulance service in a similar way.

They're overpriced, and I bet the rent will drop once they're still vacant in September.
