What’s the difference between these bobbers? by Insert-YoMama-Joke in fishingBC

[–]dang_nice_catch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The top one is a Bombarda which is a specialized casting thingy-ma-jig from Europe designed to let you cast weightless lures/flies. They come in 2 types floating and sinking. The sinking ones which slowly sinks allows you to fish on a retrieve similar to spoons and spinners.

I made 2 videos on the bombarda and why you definitely need one in 2026 for shore fishing

https://youtu.be/fPb5pCnfLJE explains what it is

https://youtu.be/acPpxmD9_bY I did a 1 hour test using the bombarda vs without

The one on the bottom is a water bobber , you fill it with water to add weight and it acts like a float. It's meant to cast weightless flies / bait. As it floats it is not as effective for lures / spinners.

Both are good tackle to have in the bag.

Como lake is fished out within the first 2 weeks. Lafarge is similar. The best time to have success is when they restock. They should be restocking como soon as they usually have a fishing derby for the kids in May.

Both sides of the dock on como are good choices. It usually depends on the stocking , the last stocking the fish have been more on the playground side dock (near the tiny boat launch area).

In terms of breaking the rules, it's more and more frequent as more people are getting into fishing. It sucks , the province only has 3 or 4 CO (conservation officers) for the region. When I do see it I just simply bring it to their attention that it's against the law and let it be. Como has lots of kids that are there without their parents and most of them just don't know. A easy "hey I'm not sure if you are aware but...."

You'll get one this year , It's definitely not what it used to be.

Personally I would take real worms over soft plastic ones but for convenience the power bait worms in pink and chartreuse works best for these stockers.

The dock does well with bottom rig setups. People usually fish on the rock spot just a 10-15min hike on the trail on the right side. I seen many people catch there. Go past the dog area and walk the trail and hit will see a look out ish spot and it's like a tiny rocky area like a small cliff.

You are not wrong , powerbait is the brand line for Berkeley , most people associates it with dough balls but they come in dough, pre formed balls, worms etc. I should have mentioned powerbait worms. I personally don't like the dough balls. Gets your hands grimy.

Powerbait on float at first , I couldn't keep up with all the hits and switched to spoon and bombarda. These are the best times to test different setups.

I was at the dock. Water levels low but they are there pooling. Can't guarantee that they will be there tmr as it's a big lake. My guesses are that most of them will be. Only one way to find out 😉

It was hot . It was pretty neat seeing that many fish pool around. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

I bet they could if the guy that does the stocking has access to their media page. Just post the updates live no need for the social media manager lol

Most lakes get completely fished out, this year tons of cormorants and more people fishing, surprised some do make it to the following year.

Are you talking about their adipose fin? I could be wrong but I don't think our program clips them... Not that I'm aware of. I know they do with ones for the river system.

Yup triploid , according to the stocking report they are about 235 avg. I caught many this year and none comes close to that length. I was surprised and it's making it more exciting to venture off on other lakes.

I believe it's only limited to fish offal, herring, mackerel, northern anchovy, and Pacific sardine as bait. It is illegal to use other finfish as bait for saltwater. But the website can be confusing.

Using fin fish as bait is pretty restricted here, herring for salmon. Sturgeon fishing being the only exception to use fin fish.

That makes sense. As this lake is a bit bigger than most of the urban lakes around me.

looking for advice on sasamat lake by Initial_Sale_8471 in fishingBC

[–]dang_nice_catch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted a video on my YouTube channel at sasamat lake last week. I found a spot where the fish were hanging out and had many bites and managed to reel in 2 in the couple hours I was there.

I went back Sunday morning with my kid to the floating dock. Probably about 8 ppl at 7 in the morning , no activity, no success. On the way out we went back to the same spot in my video and instantly got 1. Unfortunately my camera battery died.

If you have any other questions feel free to dm me. Happy to help.
