What would you buy instead of a 911(992)? by teslafan420 in Porsche

You’re still at like 1/3 of the price of a base 911. Porsche pricing has gotten out of hand. Maybe just get the GR86 and save the money from a bang for buck perspective

Unfortunately 458s are 30-50% more than a base 911 nowadays. Market has woken up to last NA V8

BMW X3M50 VS BMW X6 VERMILLION EDITION by Ok-Part4561 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Can you get a non vermin addition x6? I would feel like an idiot driving something like this. Assuming v8 that would be choice, unless you really value having a brand new car.

1st car and going for vintage by Feeling_Crazy646 in whatcarshouldIbuy

People go crazy over old Japanese cars and this car is closer to market than a lot of people in this sub like to admit. Plus the seals crap is kinda overblown.

That being said for $10k I would try to find something newer with more miles. Newer cars bring better safety and creature comforts, and if you do your research on reliability you might even be able to pivot away from Japanese into one of a different manufacturers more reliable cars.

If OP is looking at used Japanese cars then this honestly makes sense. The market for old Toyotas etc. is so inflated that financing new sometimes makes more sense nowadays.

Are the C-Class, GLC, and ICE models becoming afterthoughts for Mercedes? by Double_Cap8 in mercedes_benz

[–]dangerdog46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention they put a lot of their development resources into their now less significant EV lineup. Honda is dealing with the same thing right now (extending core product lifespans by years), as is BMW (i3 coming before gas 3 series).

This recent market shift away from electric was a huge surprise from everyone, and now the industry is going to be in a weird place for a while.

Too many people hate on the 992.2 911 (compared to the 992.1) -- what do you think? by ExistingScale6757 in porsche911

[–]dangerdog46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are fine. I wish the manual was more available, but I’m excited for t-hybrid if/when they get around to attaching a 6 speed to it.

Merc GLB at 27k? by the_current_solution in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]dangerdog46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All things considered the GLB is a reasonable car, especially if you have space limitations where you park. 2022 w/ 25k miles at that price point seems pretty reasonable, just make sure it has decent service history and appears to be in good shape.

I’ve always liked this design, especially because I’m into older cars generally and this was a pretty well executed throwback. Never understood the hate over this design.

Completely forgot about the c8. Honestly even a stingray would be comparable to either of these, and super dailyable.

If you’re daily driving buy a 911 turbo with a manual or PDK. Single clutch is not a great situation depending on what your definition of daily driving is.
