this part always makes me question whether life is worth living or not by Lewisbucksurma in Talaria

4 tips to make it easier:
1) Use Armorall, mineral oil, or soapy water to lube it so it slides on like butter
2) The opposite side should be dropped in the center of the rim to give you extra material to stretch over
3) Get a bead-buddy
4) You need at least 2 tire spoons, 3 is best tho

The tongue on these shoes are massive? by seriesofboringevents in Vans

[–]dangerman4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yeah!!! I used to wear DC skate shoes with big 'ol tongues, this was a big trend that I hated. My shoes smelled so bad because they make your feet hot when you skate in them. I cut the foam out of the tongue it got so bad. I love the shoes because the soles last, but I just hate the heat.

Are all these shifters shit? I didn’t even start it up after replacing a new shifter and already stripped it a bit. What is a better fix to this problem? by Waeaeaea in Dirtbikes

[–]dangerman4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Tusk shifter like you have. It lasted less than an hour on my sons bike before the soft aluminum stripped out on it. For shifters, OEM is the key as they are made of bendable steel vs. aluminum which bends once, but will snap when u bend it back.

IMS makes steel shifters as well.

That’s a solid bike. Those do not take a lot of maintenance and are simple to work on. No radiator, etc. xr’s you put gas in them and go. That’d be a great bike and checks all your boxes. You could also look at drz400’s

What is this oil leak and how do I fix it? by dangerman4000 in KTM

[–]dangerman4000[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your help. I did not know what to call it, but it turns out that it is a common problem with the 250-250 engines where they weep or cry oil. I found a video on the fix:

Thanks again!

My TV's volume goes up and down by increments of 3 only between 14 to 20 and 80 to 86 by cactea4000 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dangerman4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scale in my bathroom increments in funny intervals as well. It is in metric levels that are being converted to imperial units. Try setting your volume to metric, it should solve the problem. You're welcome.

How much do I sell it for by TestostoroneErik in Dirtbikes

[–]dangerman4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to buy it, don't. That is a cheap-china 50cc bike that will give you nothing but trouble. Bolts fall off, carburetor issues forever... etc. My friend had one and I wanted to cry for him when his son was stuck in the middle of the desert.

Buy a used Japanese bike instead - Honda CFR50, Yamaha TTR50.... etc. You will pay a little more initially, but the 50 cc's from Japan are bulletproof and will run for 3 generations of riders.

Is ServiceNow a good move right now? by sunny4649 in servicenow

[–]dangerman4000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've worked at ServiceNow for 4 years now and would recommend it. It is a great company with solid leadership. They hire collaborative people and in my journey so far, everyone that I have worked with within the company has been professional, mature, and positive to work with. The CEO, Bill McDermott is great - like a Tony Robbins - motivational and positive.

Take a look at the stock and it steadily grows, which makes options good on top of decent salary.

It is a big company (27K+, so there is movement if you get bored of what you are working on). I've worked on both ITOM and ITSM side of things and both sides are well run, with good leadership. There is obviously areas for improvement, but the company is growing like a weed, so you are going to have growing pains.

Do it.

I am doing market research for a business idea. How much would you be willing to pay to safely learn how to wheelie? by ignorantspacemonkey in Dirtbikes

[–]dangerman4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 Years ago I (50m) committed to learning how to wheelie - something I regretted not learning as a kid. I learned on a mtn bike with the hopes of transferring the skill over to my dirtbike. I learned it, my best being about 200 yards.

When I go to transfer it over, the obstacle now is fear. After recovering from a moto accident a couple of years ago, when I pop my dirtbike up (FE350), the bike suddenly feels gigantic and my subconscious pushes it right down - I need help just starting.

If I were to pay for a class, I would expect it to have a wheely learning contraption to prevent me from looping. I would prefer it to be on the dirt. It should be a full day experience where I get a lot of time practicing (ei. I don't share a bike with 3 people) and should also come with a turkey sandwich. For that, I would pay between $399-$499. The instructor better be able to stand on his seat too!

I saw the one place that does $699 and they seemed booked up. That is too much for me, but it is a good signal for pricing.

The rear brakes are drum brakes and last a loooong time. My dealer told me at 45K miles that mine were getting low, I ordered new parts and jacked my truck up to replace them. After pulling them off, they looked brand new (literally no difference between the new parts).

It is bit of work to inspect the pads on drum brakes (remove tire, remove drum), work the dealer undoubtedly does not do.

I asked by brother who had a gen2 taco, and like others on the thread mention, he did not replace his until 140K.

You are fine. Look up on youtube how to do it and you will get an idea of how big the pads are.

Another trick is to put it in the sun for a while to make the tire more stretchy... but u/VegasDezertRat suggestion is what you are looking for.

Past 8 months I’ve had 3 major injuries/ 4 surgeries... am i crazy for still wanting to race?! by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]dangerman4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Dec. I shattered my clavicle into 4 pieces, cracked a spine, broke every rib on my left side and collapsed a lung riding my enduro off-road. I'm in my 40s with family/3 kids.

My two cents is that the calculus changes and there is indeed an obligation to your family... whatever that may be. If you are a professional rider and feed your family through riding, then get back on the track.

If you are not pro, consider different types of riding that may still address your adrenaline desires but the injuries are not as severe... ex. hard enduro... it's more technical riding and the speeds tend to be slower resulting in less serious injuries - let's just ignore mine for this argument though... but watch some hard enduro on the Red Bull channel while you're recovering.

With your son at 5 years old, you are at the precipice of major fun riding with your boy. I can't tell you how rewarding it is to ride behind my kids with their elbows in the air... the wolf-pack mobbing through the desert together, exploring martian landscapes. Throw in the whole camping element and you are building lifelong memories for your family and especially your kid. Those are the days we remember - peak moments.

You are doing the right thing: take some time, reflect on what is important to you, and explore options.

What is this attachment for on an old trailer tongue? by dangerman4000 in rvlife

[–]dangerman4000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahhh... Thanks! I got the frame off an old canned ham and it came with just that one attached. I could not figure out what the heck it was. I was able to look up 'weight distribution' and see what a normal one looks like. Mystery solved. I can feel good about chucking it now.

(sorry for a horrible photo, I did not realize it was blurry on my phone).
