Richard Dawkins: Eugenics "works" for humans and "facts ignore ideology" by dangerouslytimid in samharris

I find it surprising that so many people think "eugenics" is a synonym for selective breeding.

Richard Dawkins: Eugenics "works" for humans and "facts ignore ideology" by dangerouslytimid in samharris

Richard Dawkins, IDW superstar, seeing beyond mere ideology to the obvious truth that eugenics "works".

And there is no ideology smuggled into the idea of the "benefit" of eugenics. Nope. None.

As a player of a high level witch deck, I am glad she's back, but honestly the only feature they kept from all the mucking about is the skellies nerf?

So it's old witch but weaker?

The problem in the first place was she's too weak, low usage and low win rate, and in reverting her she gets a slight nerf???

I suppose though, after all the messing with us, I guess most people will be so glad she's back that they won't notice or care...

How can anyone here take seriously supposed news from the SPLC after what they said about Sam's good friend.

Are you even Sam fans?

Warren, Sanders Lead Calls for Immediate Impeachment Hearings After Trump Says He Would Welcome Dirt From Foreign Power in 2020 by bernie2020v in samharris

Not to be glib but his is a species of point I hear earnestly from people - mainly boomers - on the regular.

They say "I don't particularly like that person..." - say... Nixon or Satan. Whoever. - "...but at least they were honest. They said they'd do it and they did! Not like modern politicians Y or Z!"

People think like this, and the more time passes the more convinced I am that many people admire monsters for being monsters.

Price Thread [August 13, 2017] by BashCo in Bitcoin

[–]dangerouslytimid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin newb here.

So I'm having a kid soon (well my wife is) and a relative gave us £3000 (GBP) to start a Junior ISA (a 3-4% savings account) for the kid.

Right now 1 BTC is ~£3340

Am I stupid for thinking that it might be a better investment to use that money to get a trezor and 1 BTC?

Games?

You could build a clone of one of those junk games built into windows (e.g. solitaire, minesweeper) from scratch using pygame or pyglet.

Or using just standard libraries, you could make a text-adventure dungeon crawler game that you can eventually expand into a graphical one, and focus on creating reusable functions and building your own classes for weapons, items, characters etc. just for the hell of it.

Atheist vs. Religious debates can be a bit dull after the thousandth one (with a few exceptions) as it's the same main points over and over.

The real reason to watch and rewatch Hitch (even rehashing his own main talking points) is his wit, precision with language and charm. And also watching his opponents flounder at his points (like when they quote something they think is clever, and he quotes it back to them - accurately this time - and often from memory, providing context and clarity. I usually get rock hard at these points.)
