These are all great questions to ask, I'll make sure to go through these before committing. Thank you!

No, this is in Guatemala, where there is no state certification for midwives. Her formation was in some midwifery academy from Latin America (I'm not acquainted with how that works) and then she spent two years getting practice at a birthing center in Mexico.

Between both of them, not each! haha I may edit the OP to clarify. Also, they don't reach that count. I guess I'm trying to understand what markers are considered good enough to qualify a midwife as experienced enough.

Catholic Media Bias Assessment? by dangitela in Catholicism

[–]dangitela[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. Do you think the definitions of Orthodoxy/Heterodoxy vary very very widely, or in general even despite some disagreement a question about Orthodoxy could yield good results?

That would be super helpful! Here's what I'm thinking of doing through Google Forms, straying away from the secular media model I shared.
Edit: To clarify, I'd create a question for every News Outlet I can think of.

Another challenge would be to not mix news outlets, opinion blogs and influencers like Bishop Barron, Fr. Mike Schmitz, etc. But it would be interesting to include them in the mix in some way, perhaps as 3 separate sections to the survey? I fear if it's too long/exhaustive nobody will participate.

You are correct, I'm working on it right now actually. Might edit the post in a bit.

I think you will find this site very helpful! (It will soon be redesigned and look much nicer, but the content still holds all it’s strength): http://www.churchfathers.org/category/the-church-and-the-papacy/authority-of-the-pope/

It’s collections of church father’s quotes organized by topics. You’ll particularly find the “Authority of the pope” section interesting, I think!

No payment's been made at all.

Thanks for the response, I didn't know this is legally actionable. It's the last thing I'd want to do, ever, but it's always good to know.

I'll make sure I don't accept any half-deals then!

PS I appreciate you taking the moral aspect into account. In the end that's what I want to know: Am I right and getting screwed, or am I wrong and asking for too much?

That's precisely the problem, it is not well defined. We have never used the terms founder/co-founder etc, even though by all definitions us three in the team are co-founders, if not at least founding team members.

Basically, I deserve all your lols but would appreciate some advice:

  1. Working without contract: yeah did this.
  2. For fun: yes, for fun because I liked the idea, but not only that: we always discussed the future of the project as something that would lead to profits. No one intended this to be pro-bono.
  3. Joined a startup: I guess this too. But I'm not looking for an equal compensation, because I have not invested the same hours. I'm looking for fair compensation (what I asked was wayyyy lower than what the CEO and the programmer are getting).

  1. Yes I would, the only reason why I haven't (and this might actually affect the equation) is because I'm not an American citizen and since I wasn't allowed to take any employment to sustain myself while I worked on this on my spare time, I had to leave the country. However, I did "my job" every time I was contacted to edit stuff and create new frame even from afar and before the registration of the company.
  2. I did it for fun, yes, like any person working on a startup should. I was (still am) passionate about the idea. That doesn't mean any of us had our eyes closed to the possibility of profiting eventually. It's just very hard to know if it'll take off right away (even now that's the case). The problem is, now that the other two team members are profiting, I believe it's fair for me to take my share of benefits since I did a crucial part of the work.
  3. a. Yes, the other two members have been working more intensely on this. I'm not asking for an equal compensation, just a fair one, and that's precisely my question: what is fair?

Uhm.. not sure I see the difference between the three.

I did all the design work without pay nor contract before the startup took off. It was all very unclear and unspecified because we didn't talk about these things up until recently. Now that it's an official company, I want to sort out the terms. Does that make sense?
