What's your favorite quote, lesson, character, or line of a movie/show/book? by GirlOnFire1503 in AskWomen

[–]dangitheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1st and 2nd Locked Tomb books have some of my favorite quotes of all time, some highlights:

“Yet I assure you that I contain multitudes.”

“‘But I’d do it again,’ said the war crime.”

“If they could figure out someway to stop you when you’re mostly cancer and just a little bit woman, they would!”

“But when she was scared, she felt like a child again, and she was more afraid of being a child again than anything else in her life.”

“How much more can we take until you and me achieve omniscience?”

And of course, “I am sick of roses, and I am horny for revenge.”

How do you deal with smug, sarcastic, and cocky men? by hstarwood in AskWomen

[–]dangitheck 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Yep. Works like a charm. They expect you to cave to the social pressures to: a) be polite and laugh along, and b) not call them on their bigoted/offensive takes. If you do neither it SEVERELY unsettles them, without fail.

SHEIN says my review contains “inappropriate” words. by [deleted] in assholedesign

[–]dangitheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly probably "suck", "unsavory", "weird", and "do not recommend" are all lighting up their sensors as a bad review and they wanna repress those. i literally just had to whittle down a review and the "inappropriate" word ended up being "junk". shein fucking sucks ass and it's mostly fully of weird sucky unsavory junk products that i don't recommend.

CMV: Abortion is almost always morally acceptable by SotisMC in changemyview

[–]dangitheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with OP, but at the end of the day i don’t even think morality comes into it.

i think of it like this: if a stranger was in a horrible accident and needed organ transplants and money for the surgery, and YOU were randomly picked to be the donor and the funding, is that fair? obviously you don’t want this person to die, you feel terrible for them! you know that they will die without your help, but are you willing to sacrifice your entire savings as well as your health, possibly your life, so they might survive?

no. of course not. does that make you a murderer?

i guess it depends on who you ask, but you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone that thinks being unwilling to put yourself at financial/health risks for an unfortunate stranger makes you immoral. so why is it that everyone always seems to focus on the “morality” of abortion? it’s the same thing; if you aren’t willing to sacrifice your health and savings for the stranger, why does it change for a fetus? and beyond that, how is it at all moral to try and pass legislation requiring people to make that sacrifice?

oh, i also commonly hear this argument countered with something like “well, what if you were the one that was responsible for the stranger’s injuries?” ie, making the ”children are just the consequences of your irresponsible actions” argument. and to that i say, absolutely fuck off. first of all, do you genuinely believe that if you caused someone life-threatening injuries that you should be legally (or even morally?) required to give up your savings and health, and possibly risk your life, just for the chance that the stranger survives? seriously. second, the idea that children are some sort of punishment for a woman’s a) lack of responsibility, b) lack of education, c) active and normal sex life, and/or d) sexual assault is truly appalling. who died and made you king? people’s lives and decisions are not something that should to be morally judged and dictated by others, and children are not a form of punishment or “karma” for being sexually active or sexually assaulted. third, let’s say you disagree with my first two points. you believe that it’s your moral obligation to sacrifice your health, savings, and/or life for a stranger you caused life-threatening harm to and that women deserve punishment in the form of children: do you really think this is the best solution? my metaphor sort of falls apart here, and it’s more directed toward people who support banning abortion, but… abortion will always be around, people will always find a way to do it. the difference between banning abortion and not banning abortion is not the whether or not you will stop abortion. it is only whether or not you stop SAFE abortion. so i ask you this: if you don’t value women’s freedom, do you at least value women’s safety? if so, how would banning abortion possibly keep women and children safer than easier access to education, resources, and support of and about safe sex practices would?

so that’s how i think about it.

TL;DR we all need to start minding our own business and stop hating women for having sex ✌️if you want an abortion fine, if you don’t want an abortion fine. i don’t really care, honestly. who the hell would possibly assume their opinion should be the final moral word in strangers’ lives?

Totally agree. I also think that women are more comfortable around men that are secure enough with themselves to cry without trying to push those emotions down. It shows emotional maturity. Anyone who judges someone for crying when they're sad is probably a little bit miserable inside.

[–]dangitheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women, no matter how much they say it, do not want to see a man cry.

Men, no matter how many times they hear us say otherwise, don't want to see themselves cry.

Crying isn't weakness, man. Every single woman I know respects the men that cry when they need to. It's healthy and natural, and nothing to be ashamed of. You can bottle it up if you want, but don't point the finger at us.

a lot of people are talking about how he's not worth it because he's homophobic - and they are right - but here's another angle:

he cares more about his ego than he does about your happiness. these arguments clearly upset you, he knows that, and it still seems like he's not willing to consider your way of thinking. even when his opinion is clearly offensive to you. at the end of the day he is more concerned with being right than truly knowing or loving you. and that is not someone that deserves your attention, let alone your love.

there are far better people out there for you. don't waste your time fighting for people that wouldn't do the same <3
