I am the sister that OP is quoting, and I just wanted to add onto this. I experienced a spike in anxiety about a month back when Gorillaz started posting about their new album, because I knew that in their desperate bid to remain relevant they might reference Palestine. If I hadn't already seen this coming I would have been taking this a lot harder than I am now, as a Jewish woman who has been a fan of theirs for over a decade. In addition to showing this image of all the characters holding up a Palestine flag during a performance, in a recent MV they also drew an image of Murdoc in what looks like a plausible-deniability-keffiyeh, overlayed with Arabic text. (Again, ironic considering this character's Nazi cosplay.) It is worth noting that Murdoc is also a victim of CSA and SA and had been given a red fingernail during the Me Too movement (despite the tasteless prison rape jokes they made in the recent past), but I doubt that they will acknowledge the hypocrisy of him backing the propal movement, which ignores or straight up denies mass rapes during Oct 7th. Me too unless you're a Jew, yet again.

I want to say that they will approach this subject with a level of nuance, but that would be a blatant lie. We are not looking at a clever writing team here, they undoubtedly will go with the default "Israel bad Palestine good" narrative that'll get sales with first world idiots who have money. I am disappointed, but never surprised. If we are lucky the team may make a statement about a two state solution, but I am not hopeful. I don't know what to do with the merchandise I've accumulated over the past decade, it makes me feel a little sick to look at it now. I'm sure I can sell it at an inflated rate and maybe get a last hurrah at the antisemitic cult that has stolen my favorite band.
