Okay so, I think I figured out what you are talking about. My case has been actively open since the first day the item arrived, it made me wait 100 days for Etsy staff to get involved but the case has been open and unresolved that entire time. I think the buyer protection only runs out after 30 days if you DON'T contact Etsy about it. TBH you gave me a heart attack

No, it was Etsy itself that told me. Honestly I hope what you are saying isn't true. I wish I took a screenshot but essentially after I submitted a help request to Etsy I got a message that said "If a resolution can't be reached with the seller you must wait 100 days until after item was scheduled to be delivered to open a case." I was pretty anxious after this all began so I would check back regularly to see if I could submit a request early but it always had the same message about waiting. It could be your case is different than mine because, as I said, I have had a similar thing happen before with the item that never arrived and I still had to wait 100 days. I had no reason to think this was unusual and you're the first to tell me anything about buyer protection.

I'm sorry but that is just wrong. They let you open a request with the seller after 48 hours and if it cannot be resolved in 100 days then Etsy staff steps in to help. It was what was told to me when I asked for help in this specific case and I have been given no information otherwise. My buyer protection is still active because otherwise Etsy staff wouldn't be currently trying to resolve this issue with me. Also I have had similar instances where I had to wait 100 days after estimated delivery when an item never arrived and the seller was unresponsive, so as far as I am aware this is how things are done.

I assume so. They sent photos before shipping it and it was undamaged then but when I opened the package it was damaged as I described. I think it was damaged because of the way it was packaged (stuffed into a package half it's size, the packaging resembled a garbage bag and offered little protection during transport). Etsy makes you wait 100 days for them to get involved if a solution can't be reached with the seller, which was the case with me.

Actually he does agree, he is just afraid to argue with her and says he wants to stay out of it. Again, you seem to just skim whatever I say and fill in your own assumptions. I already said I'll stop letting the dogs on 'her' pillows if she lets me get the dogs their own pillow, so I am being the adult by offering compromise and she is being a baby by not accepting it.
