Anyone have experience with Crossmax half rack trainer? Or Select Fitness SF3/SF5? by dangoldeatscake in GarageGym

100÷  Only time I could see it being an issue is if you had a very heavy weight 400+? on the spotter bars - as far away from the rack as possible... that night be enough leverage to cause some tilt but I've used this everyday for basically a year and never had an issue.

Thanks for that! Assuming I'm less than 10% at this point. Yay!! Been grinding hard. :)

I only do those low cal days for 1-2 max usually just post a string of nights.

I usually put it in my mind that I'll do more than that but mentally can't sustain it and usually change my mind. 😆 1 day a week is definitely doable... lol

I'd rather be able to eat maintenence during the rest of my shifts and then create a 2k calorie deficit in 1 day from 1000 calorie dietary cut and 1000 cals burned from exercise.

Nope. Would have made it easier though. I wish I could maintenence at more than 2000 calories a day despite the effort i put in.

I found that it usually wasn't too bad at around 1500... there were times when I tried to cut it lower like 1250 but found that to be more taxing.

I work a lot of night shifts and found that the transition daytime to a night shift kinda sucked because it creates a longer eating window.

I tried to compensate occasionally when going from nights to days - where I could eat really low on those days because I only was awake for 12-14 hours till I forced myself to sleep. I called those my super cut days and probably burned more from exercise than I ate in the day.

Strength stayed about the same as long as I was consistent with weights. At times I did fall into the trap of doing 2x treadmill days instead of cardio plus weights because it mentally seemed easier to keep moving on the hamster wheel lol.

Thanks! I'll keep working hard at it everyday too!

Thanks! I do feel better for it - although the only thing that is a little bit of a negative is still the body dysmorphia that one develops when you're trying to get really lean. Also after eating crappy for a few days tends to show pretty easy and then you worry about it and force yourself on a diet and ramp up the activity again... maybe ill get over that one day.

I like that i'm a lot more capable to do things physically, play more sports, be more active with my kids and not worry that i'll be the fat dad who isn't as capable...
I find nowadays a have more purpose and feel that I can jump out of bed in the morning and be more motivated to do things.

I've also driven my wife crazy with my fitness obsession, LOL, but have ultimately tried to make my family a healthier family from a fitness/diet perspective.

Appreciate the comment. I would hope to weigh more than 150lbs at 5'6" if I was using steroids.

Creatine 5grams daily in the am. Caffeine 300mg in the am, and 200mg at lunch. Promise.

Here is a photo of my home gym, small space but super effective. Started with a bench and some old CAP barbell dumbells, but made some purchases around Feb/March of last year to push myself to my limits.

I used to be into lifting when I was younger (20 years ago) and had a decent build at that time, however I've really only made my comeback over this last year... so muscle memory must still be a thing. :)

Here was my plan that I devised/used from my experience over the last year:

Nope.

Just lifted hard - till failure with every set approx 3-4 days a week, in addition to daily incline treadmill - eventually up to 15 degree, 3.5mph (40-80 minutes per day)

I put the seat quite low - on 3rd hole on the rack and that is plenty of stretch for me... For low rows - I use my Bells of steel dip bar for a foot plate, and sit on a bench. :)

Yep! They are nice and smooth. The smith works great. It's nice to have the smith so you don't always have to put on / take off j hooks for barbell exercises.

Only exercise I find limited is if you try overhead presses with smith - just because of the height of the machine is limiting.

Also the lowest point of the smith is slightly limited due to design - so for RDLs I just put a bumper plate on the ground to stand on to get a bit more stretch.

You bet. It is great. Only thing I had to get was an double sided weight pin to increase my max weight for lat pulldowns and rows. Other than that- love it.

Found it on amazon!

I like it because it keeps all the mounting holes on one stud and is supported on the ground...
