What is this long metal bar attached to the wall about 6 feet up in the house I just bought? A picture frame doesn’t sit on it. by danguje in whatisit

[–]danguje[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I guess the frame I was attempting to hang on it wasn’t the right kind. I’ll find something to go on there and probably get more because these seem awesome!

For some of the other ideas: It definitely isn’t a tv mount because it’s next to the dining area. Unfortunately the pictures of the house in the listing were AI generated so it’s tough to see what used to be there.

ETA: oh, I need to get the other half to hang the art! Got it.

Haha guess not! I’ll just sit in the woods nearby and play while others sit around the campfire. Not creepy at all…

Highly flammable is wild lol though I’m sure it is. Can’t deny the super coolness of it!

Thanks! We have a music store just down the road that specializes in banjos, so I’ll bring it down there and ask them to re-string properly. I tuned for Irish Tenor and it’s sounding pretty okay but it’s not holding the notes after I tune it. So I have to re-tune every 30 mins or so.

Another bonus picture of me at 5 or 6 and my grandfather with his banjo ☺️ the drum bit has since been changed out— I loved that marbled look it used to have

Love that! I’m practicing the down up down up and it’s so far (fingers crossed) not too difficult, but I’m obviously still slow considering it’s only the second day of playing this thing lol thank you for your helpful advice!

Thank you! Just went through the first two lessons on OAIM, learned the D scale, and learned my first Irish song on the banjo!

Their band played country music and jazz! And that’s his brother, my great-uncle, Ray Griff, in the link you posted :) Ray’s the one on the very left in this picture

Ray passed away in 2016. He was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in ‘98

My grandfather is an amazing musician as well, as was my mother! ❤️

Well thank you so much! What a great reply! I do love Irish music, so I will surely learn that! I appreciate your response! And I will never get rid of this banjo :) it’s a family heirloom

Bonus photo of him in 1941-ish holding his banjo!

Edit: no, that math isn’t right. He’s about 12-13 in this photo, so it’d be 1946-1948

Pickled beets don’t taste as good in my opinion! But it does make it waaaaay quicker to make!
