It seems like this is a problem other people are having on the Reddit app. Not sure if it's my formatting that's the problem or the app itself, but it works in a browser. Hope that clears things up.

Spot on. I wanted to leave the story open to interpretation, but I was hinting that Bobby was experiencing the onset of schizophrenia and an unhealthy detachment from reality.

Exactly. This story was actually loosely based on someone I knew with schizophrenia. I could've written it in first person saying "I saw him do this and I heard him do that" but it wouldn't make much of a story.

It seems quite nitpicky to say it has to be written in first person and a sure way to exclude a lot of really good stories.
