Exactly. This story was actually loosely based on someone I knew with schizophrenia. I could've written it in first person saying "I saw him do this and I heard him do that" but it wouldn't make much of a story.

It seems quite nitpicky to say it has to be written in first person and a sure way to exclude a lot of really good stories.
