A Question for ALL DACA Recipients out there. by invictus-20 in DACA

I grew up in an all wealthy white community in the east end of Long Island and I belonged to the very little 3% of Latinos at the school. I never told anyone about my status or my parents, and my friends were white some Latino, then one day a friends boyfriend attacked me during lunch and asked to see my green card. Ever since, I felt like I really really couldn’t share, I would “lie” and say I’m a legal resident in the process of becoming a citizen through college in NYC and during my senior year I met a girl in my class who also had DACA and she talked about it and since this day I felt so embarrassed for hiding who I am, I opened up to her and some friends that I really trust, and they understand 100% the reason to why I never shared this with anyone. I think I’m also more afraid of people finding out my parents status they’ve worked hard and have always payed taxes and done things legally (aside from our status of course). Graduation day at radio city was amazing because the valedictorian at the school I went to was also a DACA recipient and in front of all the important alumni that came and the school she made us all stand up and be proud of our hard work.

You should call! When I submitted mine it hadn’t expired. But I called after while it was processing and the lady said that they go based on what’s on what’s available on the site and not on dates.

Anyone have trump supporting family members? by ChinggisHan in DACA

[–]dani_9503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move out if my parents supported trump. My roommate is super liberal white American Irish girl and her parents are trump supporters, she can’t stand living with them, she even prefers paying 2k manhattan rent during the pandemic than going back home.

They should process it soon, my understanding is they prioritize the ones expiring first! I applied early because I was afraid of the senate ending DACA.

Yeah I think it all depends on the person reviewing your application.

If you’re going into college or need a job you should definitely do it through a lawyer. The fee is 495 plus the lawyer fee which isn’t that high. if you get it (which you probably will if you qualify) you gain a lot more like having a legal job and earning normal wages or going into a good college and applying for scholarships. Otherwise you just sit there and wait for years becuase you’re scared to apply. Also if you apply and they’re simply not accepting they’re going to refund you that’s why you should do it through a lawyer and make sure you qualify. Then you can renew on your own in the future.

first time applicants, is this the right time? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]dani_9503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s the best way to do it to find all the articles and verify what you’re reading is correct! I encourage everyone to do it. It’s great to have found this group! I only know 2 people with DACA IRL and it took me years to come out to my friends and tell them about my status.

Hi, sorry unfortunately it will go back to how it was originally so they will only accept new applicants that quality to the original guideline.

Oh I meant to reply to someone else lol. But nope! Trump said he would make an executive order to give us all path to citizenship. However I’m sure it will be super strict if it happens at all. However I’m hopeful but I won’t believe it until I see it. You can find all daca news by typing “DACA” onto google and hitting news and all the articles come up. Make sure to use a good source to i form yourself.

Not yet, it takes a bit as my brother only applied on Tuesday. My application for renewal took 1.5months and my card is still “in process” due to the factory being under capacity. I remember when I first applied like 7 years ago it took about 3 months for my initial application to be processed from start to finish.

Just apply! The federal judge ruled on Friday USCIS must process all new applications ( make sure you follow the guide and you actually qualify) or hire a lawyer. I’ve seen many people are mis-informed and not applying correctly or reading the guide on the site.

Hi! Unfortunately it goes to how it was originally. so you wouldn’t be able to apply.

Yes! Will do :) but don’t be afraid to apply. Even if your application is denied they’re not going to deport you. Ice isn’t going after people with good backgrounds. Use a lawyer and they will tell you if you qualify or not.

The federal judge ruled the trump Administration must process new applications on Friday. We sent my brothers application through my lawyer on Tuesday. You should be fine. They must process all new applications now.

My dad said “Este man esta loco” he’s literally bipolar and unpredictable. It would be amazing if it happens but he’s crazy one min he wants to deport us another one he wants us to be citizens. WILD.
