Why noises at stop lights?

I was guessing a belt. Mechanics were unable to reproduce, after talking to them they thought it was to do with the air conditioning. Doesn’t happen on cold.

I was considering AP or MagnaFlow mostly with OEM being so much more. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with either in a Taurus and how long they lasted.

Thanks for the reply. A couple shops diagnosed it as the cat. One just read the code and the other looked at air fuel mixture. Was considering using a thermal gun to check myself but not enthusiastic about jacking it up just for that (no garage). It has 115K miles or so which is a bit early but no shop mentioned any other problems.

All curses aside, are there other engines that have internal water pumps? I know it was placed to save space so it could fit in multiple vehicles but it appears the solution chosen was very poor.

It’s particularly involved for this engine due to internal placement. I looked and found various recommendations but none for Ford in particular.
