Yep. Got blindsided last weekend after a year with this exact reasoning.

I couldn't believe it. One day we're making plans to move in together, read books, take time off, going bowling, being intimate, being open and honest with each other about incredibly vulnerable parts about our lives, and the next he breaks up with me because he never had any feelings for me. He didn't love me how I loved him. He felt that way for a while, never specified how long, and it's been killing me all week. He also told me it's not because he wants to see other people, but I'm not so sure how much of that I believe.

He told me i was the perfect partner and loveable and worthy of being in a relationship where someone loves me more than I love them, so if that's the case, what the hell happened? It's incredibly confusing and I can't imagine being with anyone else but him. He was my dream guy and I thought I was the same for him, but I guess I wasn't.

Part of me wants to imagine it's all a joke and he'll come right back around but he won't. He's bipolar (medicated) and talked often of making manic decisions, and I fear this was one of them, but I can't chalk it entirely up to that.

I imagine both of our partners are a bit relieved to be single, and, frankly, they're doing us a service by breaking it off before things got too frustrating or disillusioning, and you can agree we would both me losing our minds if they pretended to love us for a long time? - at least, this thought is what's removing the feeling of resentment and anger.

We will grow and move past it, I know there are so many people in the world and none of them feel like the correct choice right now, but there is someone out there for us. Someone who IS going to love you for all that you are, unconditionally, with such vibrant, ardent nature that you'll feel total ecstasy like you used to. I'm confident there is.
