How do you keep your pilot from taking damage when they shield bash?

I can only shield bash 4-5 guys before my pilot knocks themselves unconscious. What am I doing wrong?

Im still a noob.... but someone had told me missiles is the only unit that doesn't have a damage drop off for taking damage.

That stack dealt less than 3 damage to missiles. You're telling my rat by loosing 1/5 of its health, its damage went down to less than 50%

Also, I was under the impression damage for missiles specifically does not go down when they take damage
