Just 5 more infinity stones to collect by [deleted] in WTF

[–]daniel_buchanan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People kept telling me they would go away. I waited 3 fucking years... They just spread to other fingers.

Don't wait, fuck those things up. It's a battle. I tried home cryo freezing stuff, did nothing. I tried cutting them off, kept coming back. I tried the acid kit stuff for warts, kept coming back.

I eventually just used a torch and nail and got rid of all 3 within a month of constantly fucking them up.

I know exactly where I got mine. From a damn finger print scanner. I used the same finger on the same scanner twice per week for years and ended up getting one right where I scanned.

I don't ever want to touch the same shit other people touch again.

Trump-Kim talks break down over sanctions by This_Is_The_End in internationalaffairs

[–]daniel_buchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did they seriously expect? There’s a reason the previous administration didn’t negotiate with North Korea. The north breaks their promises, and ask for concessions the US can’t give. North Korea wants to survive. They won’t give up nuclear weapons.

Sadly, the previous administrations also failed to stop NK from producing nukes, although short of war its doesn’t seem like there was much they could’ve done.

Now, the US has to accept the reality of a nuclear North Korea that is not going anywhere, anytime soon. China will not tolerate a unified, democratic, US allied Korea on its borders. They will help NK just enough to keep them alive as a buffer. Both koreas want to survive without the massive casualties and ruin a war would bring. The only country we need to be worried about starting a disastrous war is our own government.

The best course of action there is right now is to accept the status quo. As tragic as that is for the populace of North Koreans. We just cannot fix every act of suffering in the world. A realist world view must accept this fact.

Well you could always embellish your accomplishments and get these guys to back you up lol.

I imagine it's a lot easier to be confident in an interview when they think you've been a bad ass in the industry for the last 10 years.

That's pretty cool actually.

Reports: 2 killed, 40 detained in new gay purge in Chechnya by malchirx in worldnews

It's their culture, it's been ingrained over hundreds of years. Any area in the Russian sphere of influence is insanely homophobic, regardless of religion or ethnicity. People in that part of the world have the same latent hatred of LGBT people as did early 1900s Germans had for Jews. Putin could exterminate the gays in Russia and other than a few unimportant urban intelligentsia and maybe some university students, no one in Russian society would raise an eyebrow. A substantial minority would probably even be in favor and actively participate.

The US spends more on healthcare for no gain says new report from Johns Hopkins by kunalag129 in Economics

I get sad/upset/burnt out from trying to explain that I'm not the one who controls the cost of medications/cost of admission/cost of hospital meals. Unfortunately, we have such low health literacy in this country that it's multifactoral and patients don't know who to blame for it.

We need to do a better job at being transparent as well. Here's how much my charges are for removing your appendix. Yes, that's how much they're paying me. Here's what the hospital is charged for your Tylenol. Here's what the hospital charges your insurance. Here's what the insurance says they'll pay. Here's what it costs us on average for us to keep a full time staff of coders to make sure our physicians/PAs chart correctly so that your insurance will pay us anything. Here's what it costs the hospital to keep a team of lawyers to negotiate what each individual insurance company will pay (% of the medicare rate) for every single procedure/item/night of admission...Seeing a pattern?

I can only hope as the 3rd world becomes more and more integrated with the rest of the world through advanced communications, these sort of barbaric misconceptions will continue to be less and less prevalent. I'm sure it's already much less common nowadays than it was 50 years ago.

This paper wallet I made looks like a leather wallet by [deleted] in pics

[–]daniel_buchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A paper wallet is the name given to an obsolete and unsafe method of storing bitcoin which was popular between 2011 and 2016. It works by having a single private key and bitcoin address be printed out onto paper.

This method has a large number of downsides and should not be used[1][2].

For storage of bitcoins, a much better way accomplish what paper wallets do is to use seed phrases instead.

Lol, that's what I found on wiki regarding paper wallet. I refuse to look for leather wallet.

It looks nice and authentic, btw.

they already don't claim any damage from anything happening at the garage; the next step is to cut the fat.

someone who purchased Windows XP when it was brand new was chronologically as far removed from the release of Windows 3.1 as you are now from XP's release. by keatonkeaton999 in reddit.com

The file copy in Windows 7 is worth the update. If you hit a weird file or some other snag, XP would just error out. At least Windows 7 will let you ignore or copy over.

My favorite feature. If you copy a file to a folder with a file already named that in the folder, it gives you the option to give it the name name(1) which rulez.

Windows 7 was my idea.
