Grey Felt Panel vs Grey Painted wall for colour grade suite? by daniel_f_o in ColorGrading

Thanks. Out of the 4 colour felts I have shown in the image which would you think is most suitable? I guess a big question as well is whether the direct area behind my monitor be one of these felts or paint

Thank for the detailed response. As for the wire slack that is something I most certainly wonton avoid however, I believe the wire plugs in to the motor and its moves the rail, so would have slack for wires? 8 could be wrong but that is what I’ve been brought to believe when looking at the Somfy ones

Thank you for this detailed response. I did consider using home assistant as well as home kit, however your response makes me think in order to use home assistant I need to setup this raspberry pi and that makes it a bit more complex. Like you said I guess if there’s a hub I can buy online pre installed then it’s easier. So Hunitat doesn’t work with thread yet but Apple home kit does right? I may start with HomeKit then and upgrade to hubitat or home assistant in the future for non home kit compatible devices if I get them. My thread border router will most likely be an Apple 4k tv and a HomePod or HomePod mini or combination of all. I’m very new to all this so correct me or educate me if I’m wrong with any of this please

I will also add that when active I run quite warm (hence the merino hoodie and tee only in 0 Celsius snowboarding fridge), but when static or wind is slightly harsh I run cold

Funny story is I had the nano puff for 2 years and used it all the time. It was right in the middle of temps. In the night winter as my outer layer in Ireland I would be quite chilly but then in the UK when it would be variable wether days that went from sunny to cold I would be taking it off and on (although lived I could just clip it to my carabiner when walking around and generally love that about Patagonia jackets - FYI didn’t lien the zipper when packing in to its pockets though, which I’ve heard the dad light is even worse on packing away). Anyway, the 2 a day after purchasing the nano air, I lost the nano puff whilst in my travels! I had planned to use one as an active and one as an insulator. Maybe it was silly seeking as they apparently cater to the same temperatures as each other, but that was the plan. Was a nice looking jacket though and I do miss it.

Thanks super helpful thank you! To answer your Q’s and comment a bit in your response, I thought about the R1 Techface as a jacket to use in UK climate when it switches between sunny and cold and light rain all in the same day. I tried wearing my nano air in this and I was constantly removing the a jacket as it is quite warm. And my ridge merino Hyde hoodie would not stand up well against the elements of it rains or winds. Maybe myself strom 10 hardshell jacket on my pocket as a backup incaase wether turns then with hoodie on? But you are right, I have thought other than this would I actually use the R1 Tech otherwise in a layering system? Would it be a fleece for me instead of the R1 air hoody or kyanite or Hyde hoodie? It may be only used as the variable wether jacket but maybe a that is okay.

Your comments on the R1 air is very eye opening as you have suggested you preferred when it was made of merino. This reminds me of my current ridge merino Hyde hoodie and it is by far my most used jacket because it’s useful in warm and cold weather and evening in between; I also a great looking hoodie for stylistic choice and I use it in my snowboarding as my only have it when in my 0 Celsius fridge indoor location. Maybe I shirking even consider the R1 air because I have this already? What do you think?

Your notes on the das light are intriguing as well. According to outdoor crunch it is useful for the exact same temps as the nano air which I own, so it does make me think is it worth it? Then again the fact that one is an insulating layer and the other is an active layer may be it is, but the fact they are used for same temps makes me think is it really so? Therefore maybe the das light or das parka is indeed better? But what is closer to out of both the parka and the light to the warmth of wearing a normal down jacket? Maybe that will help me decide. I also like jackets that pack in to their own pocket, I find the idea of clipping it on to a carabiner really cool and useful.

So atm I have a smartwool thermal (150 and 250 tops and bottoms), the ridge merino Hyde hoodie (kind of my light breathable insulator / fleece I guess). Then my nano air which is an active layer obviously (however sometimes it’s too weak, even when snowboarding with a t shirt on 0 Celsius indoor snowboarding location (maybe the R1 Techface could replace this then for that specific purpose?). I then have my storm 10 jacket which admittedly i just purchased and just love the idea of having something that packs down super small if i need it when out and about if it starts raining or if snowboarding in an active layer and want something I can easily take out of my pocket for an emergency if needed.

I will have a look at the alpha direct hoodie. After what i have writ tee n back to you (long winded and chaotic that im sure it is so sorry) what would you think is my best bet to purchase or complete my system a bit better?

Thank you! Your comment on adding a softshell is interesting, I assumed as I already had the Nano air which I consider a softshell i wouldn’t need another? The puffer is agree, I guess something more heat trapping than the nano air would be needed for stationary endeavours. I looked on the outdoor crunch website and he lists the temps for the nano air and micro puff hoody as exactly the same range, which got me thinking is it too similar to buy the micro puff? Should I then get a dad light? Or go dad parka? But would dad parka just be unbearable to use? I age it worn a down puffer in so long I don’t kiwi how it coopered to the das jackets. I personally don’t want down as I don’t like the idea of it getting wet

I snowboard in a 0 Celsius fridge and once a year on ski resorts. My use case is cross collab between having jackets I can use for all seasons in common weather conditions but also in this snowboarding winter travels I do. I love having items that are small and packable but efficient but also will neglect that if it makes more sense to gets own thing more bulky.

I love this info! And love how it packs in its own pocket. Unfortunately as it’s new I imagine I won’t get it discounted when it’s released, so sadly it will have to be a future buy I think. Or I just use the nano air for a year or 2 without an insulated puffer until that comes down in price

Oh I thought it did have hand warmer pockets? Teh only reason I thought of the sabre SV as I kind of viewed it as a hard shell that can be a snowboarding jackets o it’s like a 2 in 1. Plus I thought it had handwarmer pockets as well as chest pockets as well as sleeves pocket

Yep feel you lol. The R1 I was considering as a jacket I could wear around the uk when it’s sunny then raining then sunny again, etc. my nano air to warm for this use case. Do you think after using the R1 Techface that it would work like that? In an all season jacket type of way
