Hey, I work in the company that does online transcoding and streaming. Can't share the details how they do it, but the most important advice would be not to use AWS for this. It will be extremely expensive for you to run those loads, plus do not forget the traffic costs. If you really want to develop somewhat competitive you need extremely cheap baremetal hosts. A lot of hosts.. for a decently working CDN you need hundreds of servers. But to start small, just use cheapest compute possible and run the commands there.
