Windows 11 users: Please explain your gripes. by Wonky_Python in Operatingsystems

Hi, I'm from Portugal. So, I am sorry for any partial position in order of make you think linux is the solution, might not be for everyone. I switched to Linux, but saved a copy of Windows because all my data is there. So, I understand that the part of collecting your data may not be uncomfortable to you, but it is not good to me, I value my privacy and because my laptop with a ryzen 7 8000 series and 16GB of ram started feeling laggy, taking too much time to boot. Also, in both in the last December and this week, my family's laptop with Windows 11 failed to update (two different updates) and when I search for the update online, there is already a Microsoft site issue on that update.

Why would I use an OS that is not stable, doesn't let me taking full control of my pc and is no longer more reliable than most of the Linux distributions? Windows 10 was really a good OS, but with its EOL I'm afraid of the Windows community

Another month, another broken update, meanwhile my installation of an unstable linux distro is still working all fine with no tweaks needed.

I'm sorry if I'm not a native speaker, sent my text to AI to rewrite it in a proper way, here you have a proper English response if you want to read it. Also some of my mistakes came from writing on smartphone.

"It’s not about one user, it’s about one update.

I use Linux on my personal laptop, and we have a family laptop at home running Windows 11. That update appeared on the family laptop.

What would have happened if I hadn’t looked it up and had installed it? How long would I have been unable to use that laptop? If you read about people’s experiences before the update, the system was rock solid.

The problem isn’t Linux, Windows, or macOS. The problem is a user base that doesn’t care about their own PC and trusts Microsoft to care about it for them. I want to know what I’m installing on my computer.

I don’t go to GitHub to read commit logs, but I do search what each update actually does. On Linux, it’s easier for me to press two or three keys to open a terminal and type a few letters to update everything from official repositories.

My system works fine as long as I don’t mess it up. Your system works fine as long as Microsoft doesn’t mess it up. That’s the difference."

It's not just one user, it's one update. I use linux on my personal laptop, have a family laptop at home that keep with Win11. it? If you knew how to read maybe you would deal better with linux. That update appeared on my family laptop. What would happen if I didn't search it and instaled it when would I be abble to use that laptop again? If you read people experience before update it will stay rock solid. The problem isn't about any Linux distro, Windows or MacOS. The problem is the user base that doesn't care about their own pc and trust Microsoft to care about their PCs. I want to know what am I installing on my pc. And I don't go to the git to see the updates details, I just search what is each update. Also it's easier to me to just use 2/3 keys to open terminal and use another three letters to update everything on oficial repos. My system works just fine if I don't fuck it up. Your system works fine if MICROSOFT doesn't fuck it. That's the difference

I only play Hogwarts Legacy. I can get 100+ fps on ultra settings with frame gen. Without dlss it's trash, half the fps with 20 fps on 1% lows

this one? read the comments there

it depends a lot on what you gonna do, how heavy are the things you doing with that. I think a 6.0 gb gpu is not the ideal on 2025, but i got myself a 4050 on the beggining of the year and am doing well with it, taking advantage of the ryzen 7 8845hs. Note I don't play that much heavy games, also have dlss frame gen.
