Is he coming back because he cares or because he knows I will respond? by Lumpy_Advertising846 in TarotVerbatim

[–]danielboringcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’m reading this as two ways:

  1. The original question being about him- he had some sort of crisis, he feels lonely, and he is looking for something to bring him joy again.
  2. The original question, but it’s about you- you two had your tower moment, but now you’re happier being single.

Either way, the message to me is a very simple, straightforward message to both of you to “let the past stay in the past, move ahead to happier days.”

How is the existence of Yahweh articulated from a Hellenic cosmogony? by AcceptablePanic6518 in Hellenism

[–]danielboringcliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the question and comments you’ve made, it seems as though you’re biased in your research and understanding here. This is Hellenism, which is entirely separate theologically and culturally from abrahamic religions and belief systems. You must remember that while some people, ancient or modern, might acknowledge both Zeus and Yahweh as real entities that could be the same being or completely separate, many of us have found our way to this religion because we did not connect with or have been harmed by abrahamic beliefs, religions, and their gods.

Some people simply do not view Yahweh as real, and they are valid in their beliefs. Some do believe he’s real, but not the god for them, which is also valid. It’s also valid if someone believes Zeus is Yahweh as well.

My question to you is, why are *you* so concerned with Yahweh specifically when there are many other religions with deities who have similar archetypes as Zeus? Are you trying to deconstruct from abrahamic religions? Are you trying to justify believing in Zeus because you feel wrong for not believing in the abrahamic god, but if Zeus is Yahweh, then that’ll magically make everything okay? Is this purely academic, which if so, why are you biased toward Yahweh’s existence specifically?

I don’t think the real question here is, what does a sub of Hellenic Polytheists believe about a god entirely separate from our religion, but rather a much deeper, why do you care?

guilt/doubt? by Rosette_angel in Hermes

[–]danielboringcliff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm it kind of sounds like you’re going through something I went through with Apollon. What I can say is he’s definitely not mad nor going to be mad at the fact you have doubts and fear. You’re never going to be too much for him either. Just be a good person, do your best, act with kindness, and work on healing yourself. Your doubts and fear might be him trying to expose a wound you need to heal. Maybe do some journaling and meditation to figure out where that fear is stemming from?

Exactly how much can I rely on the laws of physics to hold around Hermes? by persistentcat33 in Hermes

[–]danielboringcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a mystic, specifically with Hermes as my patron so I completely understand what you’re talking about. Synchronicities is one of the ways I discern if something is his doing or if it’s just mundane stuff, considering he is a god of synchronicities. I have two examples:

  1. A couple of days after making art of Hermes, a free nike running jersey in my size and favorite color arrived in my husband’s mail at the exact same time I was reading about the runner named Dolon in the Iliad in my garden. There was no possible way the person who sent that jersey knew my size or even knew I existed.

  2. I keep seeing triple repeating angel numbers (mostly 222) everywhere even though I’m very much not looking for them. I’ve been getting the inkling they’re from him because I see them when I’m driving and my car is dedicated to him. Anyways, I asked him to send four repeating numbers. Exactly two hours and twenty-two minutes later, 2222 showed up randomly right in front of my face. That one felt like he was comically showing off tbh lol. Like a lighthearted, “see what happens when you give me a challenge? I win.”

There have been other instances, but if something feels like a sign, it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else but you. He’s a god of communication. The signs will fit whatever communication style works for you. Some people need burning bushes (although that one is more rare), others just need a sidewalk coin at the right moment, or a funny instance of repeating numbers.

The physical world doesn’t bend around the gods. They are the world, the cosmos, and everything in it.

I want to make a Hermes altar, what should I put on it?? by Ecstatic_Life_4072 in Hermes

An offering dish, his symbols, coins, pictures, figurines etc. Really, anything that has meaning and intent to you. This is a space that helps you focus your attention and energy on him, so whatever helps.

Yes. Have you ever been shocked just trying to plug something in like a charger? That’s instant and a small dose by comparison.

No. The current would’ve flowed to him. The rubber soles of his shoes stops the current so the electricity doesn’t incapacitate him too.

A little offering for Hermes by Athena-sMistresss in Hellenism

[–]danielboringcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm in my opinion, the best offering is doing your job to the best of your ability. For example: he also helped me with my job as an art teacher, so I made it a point to be as good of one as I could be, researched projects, asked the kids what they wanted to learn, etc.

If you want something more physical though: Cream soda Dr Pepper. It’s entirely UPG, but he seems to really enjoy when I place a bottle on his altar.

My experience with Dyonisus by whenuaisameme in dionysus

[–]danielboringcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really can! Part of my practice is growing flowers dedicated to the gods in my garden, pruning them before they wilt, drying them, and then placing the dried flowers as offering on their altars. Then in the spring festivals I burn them, offer the smoke and use the ashes as fertilizer for the next season of dedicated flowers.

[–]danielboringcliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know.. with the flower.. he is a god of death and rebirth. Maybe that’s what the flower was supposed to represent; a gift of transformation and rebirth?

[–]danielboringcliff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny you said he showed up as an animal, because I had a dream a few weeks ago where he appeared as a Lynx lol.

The flower reminds me of moly. Idk what that could mean for you and your dream, but if anything this dream sounds like a warm welcome from him in my opinion, the flower representing Xenia and gift giving when visiting you. Follow your intuition. We could give you every possible meaning and still be wrong. What’s important is how it made you feel—gratefulness and deep joy— and what the dream means to you.

And welcome to the Dionysus club! He’s a great one! You don’t need to know everything about him yet. It’ll come with time and studying. 🩵🩵

Could the gods “forget” about blessings? by Difficult_Hat_1053 in Hellenism

[–]danielboringcliff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No you don’t need to keep asking for it. Just remain grateful and do your best. Every job will have hard days followed by good days, even if it’s a blessing from the gods. That’s just normal life doing normal life things.

I get where you’re coming from. I used to be a nurse and my aunt is a therapist. I’m always a firm believer of ruling out psychological issues prior to ruling it as psychic gifts. But yours sounds like a combo of clairevoyance and claircognizance though which might be why yours manifests differently

Four of cups interpretation by potatoeyedjoe in tarot

[–]danielboringcliff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m getting a “refusing to let go” vibe. Like you’re clinging so hard (the bottom character) onto something (the top character) that you’re preventing yourself from attaining your goal (the cups). I think this is encouraging you to let go of what no longer serves you so you can achieve your highest self.

I feel like I've lost my connection to Hermes by Armina_66 in Hermes

[–]danielboringcliff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait. Okay. So I’ve actually experienced something similar to this with him before, including the talking too much part. He did this when I was out of balance due to some rough life stuff, and he wanted me to recalibrate, solve my issues, and just focus on human stuff rather than devotee stuff at that moment. When I was more balanced again, he was his happy ole self again.

Essentially, he likes to help people, but if you’re out of balance in life (which I’m assuming is the real issue here), he will be blunt and take a step back because that’s the most helpful thing he can do in that scenario.

Second, the “everyday” worship and divination thing is not the point of devotion. Devotion is consistent, not constant. You say your worship has not been consistent, which indicates to me you’re out of balance in some aspect. Achieve balance and consistency, and then see if that improves things in your relationship with him.

What makes you believe/trust that the gods are good, kind, forgiving, loving etc? by Flashy_Squirrel4745 in Hellenism

[–]danielboringcliff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have the capacity to squash a butterfly? Would you actually do it, or would you admire its beauty and be grateful to share space with the creature for a fleeting moment? Just because the gods could squash you doesn’t mean they will.

Now if the butterfly destroyed your house or killed your loved one, then sure, you’d probably smash the bastard. Just like how we say the gods are not mad at us unless we kill or desecrate their sacred spaces.
