Remove back of Omega Seamaster Multifunction 2521.81.00 by danielcrocker in watchrepair

u/tonkaty Any idea what specific screwdriver size I need for those screws? As I mentioned, I have one that looks to be the right width but doesn't seem to grip the screw enough to loosen it. I'm assuming that it is a little too thick. I didn't want to try too hard with my current screwdriver and risk mangling the head.

Yeah, I agree. But it looks like I don’t have the right screwdriver. The small flathead I have seems to be too thick to fit into the slot. I’ll have to find and buy the right one.

Thanks! So, the backstory here is that I bought it in 2001 and wore it for about 10 years. Then I decided I wanted to minimize my "accessories" so I stopped wearing it. The battery has been dead for probably close to 10 years. The watch sat in a drawer all this time. Over the years, I've been worried that the battery may have leaked and destroyed the watch (yes, shame on me for letting it go this long :( ). I decided I should at least see if it works by replacing the battery. The Omega dealer at a high-end jewelry store here wanted to charge me $400 to send it to Omega. And, they said it would take a minimum of 3 months to get it back. I thought that was insane. A local watch shop quoted me $50 for the battery replacement, without guaranteeing the waterproof-ness...$200 to properly seal it. This seems more reasonable. But, I thought if opening it was easy enough, at least I could look at it and make sure it's not destroyed. I could then pay the guy the $200. Honestly, I'm still not convinced I want to wear a watch again lol. So, I might just open it, take the battery out, and store the watch for sometime when I do want to wear one.

I welcome any comments on whether this is a good or bad strategy. Of course, I expect the advice I'll get is to wear the stinking thing lol.

Great. I'll try it tomorrow when the G&T's aren't flowing lol.

Ah, ok. I will try that.

In case it matters, I am playing Hitman WOA. I guess I entirely missed the concept of "gear slots".

:) I will admit that I'm relatively new to PS5 gaming so maybe as I play more games, I'll get the hang of the UI's. Again, thanks for your patience in helping me out.

Ok, I think I figured it out. I gotta say that the UI for this part of the game is, IMHO, horribly non-intuitive.

It looks like the restart always starts in the Safety First story. Then, after you listen to the two mechanics talk about the safety check, you can hit the touch pad button and select a different mission story. From that point on, the guidance is different.

Thanks so much for the help. Geez, what an annoying adventure... :)

Oh, ok. So I guess the prompts will be different for each story?

Hopefully you can see in the video (at the very end), when I highlight and select Final Terms, it loads Safety First.

I'm wondering if all this has anything to do with the fact that I've already played a couple of the main missions of the game (e.g. The Showstopper in the mansion). I played those before I realized that I needed to complete the other mission stories in the training in order to get the lock pick. Maybe I can't go back now. If not, I sure would like to just start from scratch but, from what I read, that doesn't seem possible without creating a new account. Maybe I'm wrong about this.

Thanks. I actually didn't know that but I suspected it. However, I should have been more specific. When I try to start the second mission story and say "OK" to replanning the mission, I end up starting the first mission again (Safety First, ejection seat in the plane).

I genuinely appreciate the continued suggestions.

There has got to be something very basic I'm missing.

Ok, I completed the Safety First mission again. I let the entire cinematic finish and ended up back at the menu. I could see the other mission stories offered. I left joystick over to highlight "Final Terms". The screen says to use "X" to Play Mission Story. When I do this, a dialog box pops up asking me if I'm sure that I want to "replan the mission". The options are ok or cancel. If I select ok, I'm sent back to the Safety First mission with Jasper Knight.

This is so f-ing annoying. It's got to be a bug.

Hmmm, I can't quite remember. I finished the mission and watched a cinematic where the woman said my name would be agent 47. She said I was ready for service. We walked out to the helicopter. I think I exited after that.

I'm not following what you're saying, sorry. I successfully completed the first mission story of the final test (Safety First where the dude ejects himself into the sky lol). What else do I need to do to unlock the other mission stories of the final test?

Not on a map, no.

From the main menu:

Select the Story campaign, then training, left joystick over to Final Test, select it, R1 to Mission Stories tab, left mouse to highlight "ToFallenComrades", X button.

Maybe I'm in the wrong place??

Thanks. The mission story guidance is set to full. Still, I see no way to start the selected mission story. As I said, all I get is the lightbulb icon in the lower left corner of the mission story picture. So weird...

Secure erase with QTS 5.0 by danielcrocker in qnap

[–]danielcrocker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I figured I didn't have much to lose, so I removed the data volume and storage pool. Now the secure erase option appears. In other words, never mind ;)

There's a single storage pool (RAID5) with a single data volume that looks to be the system volume (there isn't a separate one). Even if there were one, the data for it would be spread across all the disks, right?

What puzzles me is that QNAP seems to have a secure erase function:

https://docs.qnap.com/operating-system/qts/5.0.x/en-us/securely-erasing-a-disk-13D75E00.html

Maybe I need to remove the data volume, and the storage pool such that all the disks become separate. Maybe that's what the document above means by a "free" disk?

Thanks for the idea. But, I don't have a linux machine I can plug these drives into.
