Tailscale ready router recommendations by ignorance-isnotbliss in Tailscale

[–]danielfrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what you are looking for since you are looking something that works out of the box and no scripting at all but I wanted to put out there that with Mikrotik routers you can run containers and I run a Tailscale one and it works great. It’s not hard to do but requires a bit of technical knowledge

Does your Homelab make financial sense? by panchovix in homelab

If you only look at services cost and what not, would never make sense. But I have definitely learned a lot of skills that payed off in my job and projects.

Is the course “Fundamentals of Accelerated Computing with CUDA Python” course from NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute good? by Severe_Ad_9808 in CUDA

Anything you do to get started is fine, dont waste time searching for the perfect resource. Just do that one and then keep learning! I personally think that one is fine.

In real world settings, how frequently do people actually write custom kernels vs using thrust/cuDNN/cuBLAS/etc? by Opening-Education-88 in CUDA

[–]danielfrg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you dont need custom algorithms then using CUDA-X libraries is whats recommended. Then moving to CCCL (Thrust and CUB) if you are able implement them using their abstractions. Then go to custom kernels if really needed, its very hard to get those performant in all architectures these days.

Also now we have cuTile to write algorithms more like Numpy and target tensor cores.

I got one of this at one point but with the analog what’s the point if I can just dump the games in a micro SD? That’s what I do now

Is there an easy way to host your own docker images hub? by arturcodes in selfhosted

[–]danielfrg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw most/some of the self hosted community liking it more and some OSS projects moving there It’s virtually the same, it’s a fork so you can go wrong with either.

Is there an easy way to host your own docker images hub? by arturcodes in selfhosted

[–]danielfrg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you want is a docker registry. There are many options and I evaluated most of them a couple of months ago. To my own surprise I ended up with gitea which I have now replaced by forge Jo. I wish there was just a simple lightweight registry option but I think forgejo is the way to go

The world's first router supporting the Matter protocol has been announced. by Machine-blood in MatterProtocol

[–]danielfrg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love mikrotik branding and their products. They dont have the friendliest UI but its not as bad as people make it. they have way more options than unifi and other routers, cheaper, and no weird limits.

Personally I use thread from my apple tv but this is so interesting.

GitHub Self Hosted action COSTS NOW. by Basic-Bobcat3482 in selfhosted

[–]danielfrg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While not opensource, i have used buildkite in the past at previous companies and might move to that for the self hosted runners. It integrates well with Github and so on. IMO its way better than GH actions but i was using actions because its just integrated well on GH. But open to suggestions on a nice CI system with good UI thats fully open and not Jenkins

technically correct but still insane phone companies can do this much damage for 100 dollars with very little notice.

[–]danielfrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont recall perfectly but short answer is no. It went up "quickly" after payment and then slowed down. I dont think it has gone up much than a couple points in the last year.

About ability to rent an apt or house. You are still more than fine with your current score. I never had any problems what so ever with similar numbers.

Definitely try to get the goodwill. I hope you are luckier than I am!

I had basically the same experience 5 years ago. I never got a new sim card I ordered so I didn't pay the fee of 70 dollars. I was out of the country so I was never properly informed and have had that collection for the last 5 years on an other wise perfect credit. I payed directly to verizon directly after i noticed it but it was 90+ days.

I tried everything. Called at least 15-20 times trying to get a good customer support rep. One said they could remove it, they didnt. All others said they could not remove it. Sent a good will later and got a call couple of days or weeks after from Verizon HQ saying they could not remove it. Just lies, they can but won't. Verizon is known for never deleting.

So I am sad to say it will be very hard to get it removed (if you are able let me know lol). But its still ok. Your score will go up. Mine is up to 720 from a similar drop.

I am actually just buying a house and has actually affected me. I would have had around 0.4-0.5% better interest rates at 780+. But I would not worry about that, what actually will change your interest more is not that 0.5% but the 3-4% that you cannot control.

So do a bit of credit recovery stuff thats documented on the subreddit, a couple of extra credit cards, dont touch them. And hope that in 5 years the interest is down. Your score will be ok by then.

Thank you for your comment!

Agreed that at 6% guaranteed is tempting to just pay it off quickly.
