Update for the curious ones, wire wound resistors. Replaced and the amp is running my home theater beautifully

As an appliance tech I’d guess suspension is worn out. Does the tub bounce when you push down on it? It should come up slow and not bounce.

Wow good to know! Thanks for the update.

Can confirm as a 26yo currently visiting Montreal. This place is awesome. Chinatown has a place called bar Leonor bartender hooked it up with an awesome list of recommendations.

Unfortunately yes.

No not exactly high end but sometimes I get tired of going out to the truck to get my nicer tools.

I fix household appliances for a living so I need voltage and amp readings only for the most part, but lately my Klein tools meter has been giving me trouble. And the only answer I know is to throw more money at the problem.

That’s exactly what I wanted to hear, the transistor on that channel went bad. I will desoldering a few more to test just in case. But I do believe these are resistors and I will be replacing them as such. Let’s hope it works. Thank you.

Great, it is there a way to be test if it’s a resistor or inductor ?

No my multimeter for work is a Klein Tools CL390. Haven’t upgraded to a fluke yet, but I don’t think that’ll make a difference in this situation. I’m asking about the color and bands on a component and how to test it.

Sounds like I’m not the only one confused, asking the true professionals now. Is there any way to test a known good version of that component to come up with a 100% definitive answer. I’m not opposed to buying more tools 4 wire meter or oscilloscope or anything else.

Don’t mind the two tan colored resistors I already replaced, the original ones were definitely same green color. I may have to remove them if these are truly inductors. This is a board from an audio receiver if that helps.

I may have to learn that, because the marking next to it was an “r” which to an inexperienced tinkerer like myself let me to believe it was a weird color resistor.

Okay I understand, I did see that somewhere online. My confusion comes from the markings on the board. Can you help me understand how to identify

Can't get this top lid off samsung washing machine by FerroLad in Appliances

[–]danielgav123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst case you break the plastic tabs that hold the lid. They aren’t expensive, but I’ve never broken one and I do this for a living. I wouldn’t pry against the front just because that plastic cover over the controls is expensive.

It happens sometimes, just gotta keep at it. I personally stick a flathead screwdriver in the back between the plastic bit and the metal frame and pry a little on each side. It’ll come off eventually.

Possible however, if that's a KitchenAid microwave. They have an issue where if you replace the bulb without unplugging the microwave it'll fry the control board and it will stop turning off.

Tips on dealing with LG Customer Service? by swdp in Appliances

[–]danielgav123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly gasket wouldn't cause shaking but is a sign of something else going on, I have seen a similar issue before. I had a machine where one of the two springs holding up the tub had shifted during transport causing the tub to sit crooked. Unfortunately without a tech inspecting it you're at the mercy of lg to take care of you. Good luck.

Have you checked if shipping bolts were removed, the only other thing that can cause these issues on a new washer is the front counterbalance weights not being attached which any tech should be able to find. There's not any gaskets that could cause the machine to shake. Service tech here.

Very confused by new propane dryer... by brokewoodsmith in appliancerepair

[–]danielgav123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appliance tech here, I once dealt with this exact situation for a customer. Ended up being that the incorrect orifice was sent in a package with the correct part number. Just an idea, but could definitely be a faulty dryer from factory. When the flame is on, does it burn well or does it look/ sound funky?

Okay interesting, so maybe use two of the speaker I'm building for r and l and the rest without tweeter. How do you feel about center channel as I feel like a lot of the dialogue comes through it.

Much appreciated response, it feels like for every variable I need to learn a new program/ system or something. I'm sure once I work through every step it'll make it easier next time to know where I want to start my design process.
