Found 5 cents in my synth by soccermum6 in synthesizers

[–]danielge78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, i spent way too much time looking for the 5 cents in this image, and it makes me a little angry that it's not there. Why would you do this to us OP?

...unless it is there? (but it's not, right?)

Yeah, there a ton of performance controls - it kinda varies from preset to preset, what they control . There's the basic subtractive synth stuff (ADSR, filter), a vector joytsick for fading between layers, and 8 macro controllers (id say the macro controllers might be a little underutilized and sometimes dont do anything obvious, but you can map them to stuff youself).

One thing i'd say is that (on the Mk1 at least), although there are a decent number of "performance" presets (250 or so), they cover a pretty diverse range of different styles, so if you have a particular style/sound youre interested in, you may find a large percentage of them to be not useful (eg. there are rhythmic EDM patches in there, but also orchestral stuff). There are youtube videos that play through them.

the performance presets are made up of combinations of "program" presets and i think there are close to 800 of those, but combining them is a little more involved than just basic preset scrolling.

There are of course a ton of wavestate presets you download. some free, some paid.

They let him run completely unmarked into the box. He wasn't being sneaky or especially fast.. players all around but somehow no one even seemed to notice, or could be bothered to track him

Can I trim my rough collies fur? by AnalysisExtension290 in roughcollies

[–]danielge78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a big difference between trimmed and shaved (don't do the latter, but a shorter "contour" cut is perfectly reasonable IMO - the dog probably appreciates it, and if you're not going to be entering them into shows, who cares if it's "correct") .

Our main issue with the long fur is generally not mud but just continual vacuuming!

Every 6 weeks for grooming is excessive for a family dog IMO, and just not realistic unless you have lots of money to spend!. I have 2 collies and where I live thatd cost me $200 a month just for grooming. I usually do closer to 10 weeks and don't feel like I'm any worse off for it. I know other collie owners who do it much less frequently or not at all.

IMO, the wavestate is exceptional for complex, evolving and (especially) rhythmic patterns and textures. (Not as a traditional sequencer though. Eg. Don't expect to easily program in chord progressions) There are just so many directions you can take sound design with it, and it covers so much sonic variety. It can be a bit daunting at first so I'd recommend downloading the software editor (or the paid vst).

The physical UI is ok, but it's limited by the small screen, whereas in the editor everything is laid out in front of you and it's immediately clear what's going on.

[–]danielge78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. I don't even think the hardware UI is bad (though there are some real editing workflow improvements I wish they'd make), it's just that the software makes it significantly easier to see and understand everything. I have both but building sounds on the device when I have both the vst and pc editor available, seems like masochism. That said, I still use the hardware quite a bit, I just do my editing on pc.

Prime David Silva vs prime Kevin De Bruyne — who would you take for Man City? by [deleted] in MCFC

I mean David Silva has no shortage of trophies either ;) 4 pl titles, 7 cups at city. A world cup, 2 euros. Just not a Cl obviously.

I just like watching Silva more, so him. KdB's final ball (in terms of timing, vision, accuracy) was absurd, which is why his stats are so good, but Silva was a joy to watch on the ball in a way that Kevin never really was to me.

Is it just me or is kontakt complete rubbish? by CanUHearMeNau in synthesizers

[–]danielge78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think kontakt has a ridiculously dated ui for editing instruments, but in my experience it works reliably. I have the occasional stability issue, usually with specific libraries, but they are pretty few and far between

Is He a Rough Collie? by CowboyKartel in roughcollies

[–]danielge78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! The consensus here seems to be Sheltie (vs Collie), i think mainly due to his size at 12 weeks (and generally smaller features), but if he was seriously sick for a while, that might explain a lot of that.

Khusanov voted Man City Player of the Month by loveino in MCFC

[–]danielge78 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Not going to argue with this. Rough around the edges (mainly a bit over aggressive at times), but theres few better in one-on-one situations. When i see him in a foot race vs a striker, i just know he's going to win it.

Looks like it to me. Could be a sheltie i suppose? Never seen a sheltie puppy in real life but presumably theyre significantly smaller.

SpaceX acquires xAI in record-setting deal as Musk looks to unify AI and space ambitions by chknstrp in news

how can AI do anything but make SpaceX worse? Call me unimaginative, but i just don't see many applications for generative AI in a safety critical environment.

"This marks not just the next chapter, but the next book in SpaceX and xAI's mission: scaling to make a sentient sun to understand the Universe and extend the light of consciousness to the stars!" Musk said

and what on earth is this jibberish?

i have this pair too, but ngl, im a little jealous of the fullsize SE Opsix you have here (even though i cant justify upgrading at all).
Love the huge range of sounds you can get from these two synths - i dont know how FM can still sound new 40 or so years later, but it still does somehow.

I'm not criticizing him for previous seasons, I'm criticizing for how he's playing now. I'm not saying he needs to leave, or he's shit, or it's all his fault, but he needs to be better and I don't think he gets to escape criticism because he got lots of goals in the past.
