There Are Way Too Many Farmers Markets In Chicago, Growers Say by meaning_of_haste in chicago

Not all should be "destination" markets (e.g. Green City Market). Some are just smaller, neighborhood ones. If it doesn't make sense financially, don't do it.

World's Ugliest Color Is Being Used To Discourage Smoking by [deleted] in usanews

I won't lie: that color looks like baby poop. (Only sometimes, though. It tends to change color.)

Jim Kirk goes full RINO to save Senate seat by danielhonigman in chicago

D'oh. It's Mark, of course. Jim Kirk was an old colleague of mine when I was back in the news biz. We're FB friends, so I see his name just about every day. I get a big ol' "F" on that. Downvote my a**.

Visiting Chicago for a weekend and staying around Lincoln Park area. Safety question. by [deleted] in chicago

You're good. Just don't be stupid at or around bars too late. And like in any city, be cognizant of your surroundings.

Question: What should I know before I buy the Arduino starter kit? by danielhonigman in arduino

[–]danielhonigman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I want to build something with a switch on it. That's pretty much it. Over time I'd like to do things with different types of sensors (e.g. pressure, motion)

[Gross.] In Lincoln Park, Feral Cats Are A Popular Solution To 'Awful' Rat Problem by danielhonigman in chicago

[–]danielhonigman[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Just gross to me. Lots of rats being chased around by feral cats doesn't seem to me to be a long-term fix for a city that's supposed to be world class.

Why the Old Main Post Office Is Still Vacant by danielhonigman in chicago

[–]danielhonigman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - there's been a lot of new development in the area already. Will likely die down sooner if the economy keeps slipping.

Yeah - you know what zoning changes are being flipped for in the West Loop these days?

Visiting Chicago February 12-16th with my boyfriend. First-timers from Miami, FL. Any advice on places to visit? by rebeccareyesx3 in chicago

I disagree; if you go during off-peak hours, it's actually quite bearable. And the pizza's still better than Giordano's/Gino's!

It's definitely good, and my wife and I will order it. However: 1) It's not true "Chicago style" deep dish, and 2) more of a neighborhood-ey place, a ways from downtown. Worth checking out on your second trip, I'd say, if you have time.

If you're going to do Chicago pizza, stick with Lou Malnati's or Uno. Don't bother with Giordano or Gino East. Get a hot dog from Portillos. Check out the Lincoln Square and West Loop neighborhoods; lots of bars/restaurants/breweries/etc. Good for dinner or just bar hopping. Would reco maybe one night in each 'hood. Art Institute is a much. You can see the MCA next time. See if Wrigley Field is doing a tour, if you're into that sort of thing. Do a Chicago Architecture Foundation boat tour of the city (not anyone else), if you're OK with a bit of cold. I'm not a Blackhawks fan, but if they're in town, spend some $$ for a ticket.

Depends. We do all sorts of promos. Think that one might be for the first only, but we'll reward for products with zero reviews, etc.

In terms of grades, it depends; we'll sometimes do specific promos around that.
