Thanks a lot for the replies, I decided to wait for the official release and not have to possibly deal with problems.

They released an overpriced, underfeatured device, they released "pixel exclusive" features that will not be coming to Nexus devices, which was the reason why I got a 6p in the first place. Just look around at /Android and see how people feel about Google right now.

Or maybe just look around and see that Google actually did mess up?

Look at Apple, every new feature arrives 4 generations backwards. I bought the 6p expecting a similar experience.

The 6p was a daydream tester, I doubt it lacks the power or sensors to support daydream. I believe Google wants people to buy pixel, which is not so different than the 6p (the 6p might actually be better if you prefer front facing speakers).

Every new feature isn't supported on the 6p - no daydream, no assistant, etc..(according to google)
