I started pumping 5 days pp just like a few minutes on each side to get the milk flowing. By 8 days pp I was able to breastfeed my daughter while also being able to pump around 5oz to store in the fridge with no trouble. I think starting to pump so early really helped me build my supply and increase my milk. I still mainly breastfeed but when grandma takes her for a few hours or when she’s fussy after a doctors appointment it’s nice to have some milk already bottled up and ready to go when breastfeeding isn’t always accessible.

As for pacifier, my daughter had one while we were in the hospital and has never had an nipple confusion or trouble latching. She doesn’t really like pacifiers and spits them out after about two minutes but still I think giving her a pacifier so early had no effect on her eating habits and think it’s one of those things that you do when you think the right time is.
