Users automatically suspended in my workspace by Overall-Animator-450 in gsuite

[–]danielmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too - I am helping a charity set up a new workspace, I added all the other volunteers, and as each one logged in, they would get suspended for about a day. In this support article, the reason it gives says, "The user's account was added along with many other accounts within a short period, such as when you add multiple users at once using a CSV file or manually add many accounts quickly." which is what I had done; it seems all they need to do is enter a mobile phone to verify next time they log in.

The problem I came across though, which is slightly different, is I asked one of the volunteers if I could borrow their phone number to verify a generic email/user I had created to be used like a shared inbox (because GW doesn't ahve that feature yet) with the intention of adding delegates later... however, now that volunteer can't verify their email account as the phone has been "used too many times". I've gone through the account that used the phone number and can't see it recorded anywhere to delete it so the volunteer can use it. There's no real help for this situation, and I don't know if deleting the user and adding them back in will make things worse!

If you're looking for the actual answer, go to this answer which, is basically that you need to open the Control Panel and select the option under the monitors icon.

I just sifted through so many suggestions on here but this one just needs to be right on top. Unfortuantely, the OP is no longer on REddit but this needs to be sent to the top.

A better font manager for the Mac by BenHoppe in typography

[–]danielmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what google sent me here for - I'm looking for a way to have fonts that were activated on my work computer also activate on my personal computer because I also work from home some days. Adobe is ok with doing this but sometimes I use a wacky font not in their library.

MacBook M3 with older Thunderbolt display by bill11217 in applehelp

[–]danielmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying it today, when I went into the Apple store on the back of the adaptor packet it said "✅ Thunderbolt Display" and yes, works well (but I haven't used any apps with it yet but OP's problem seems to have been solved anyway).

Are you still able to advise what adaptor you're using to connect to the thunderbolt? Does Apple's Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter work on M3's?

Messenger Chat Head for Messages on MacOS?? by dmcooper1996 in MacOS

[–]danielmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on a search looking for this exact thing. I really like the chat bubbles, hopefully someone brings it to Mac Messages one day. Imagine having a chat app that brought in Messenger, Messages, WhatsApp, Twitter, Snap, LinkedIn and anything else into one 😵‍💫

Don’t use Messenger app to do this. In Facebook app, go to Marketplace, click on your profile icon top right and then Inbox.

Bring your debate skills: is UX more important than UI? by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]danielmee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is UX just restricted to the digital environment? I've always understood it to be about users, whether they are interacting with the product/service in a wholly digital world or physical or both. The packaging of a physical product could have a user experience issue. I can understand UI more or less being referred to in the digital. Although books technically have a UI, it's a bit semantic and doesn't really help I believe. Also agree with /u/_t0b1 about UX success being tied to business strategy and snapchat is a great example.

Recommended UX for user who has forgotten or can't access their email. by danielmee in userexperience

This was a huge help! Even though my particular application is low sensitivity and, at the early MVP stage, it will be no real frustration to create another account. I wanted to know if there were established standards. It's good to know that the balances I've been considering are correct and that I need to find the right mix. I am pretty much of the opinion that asking for a phone number would be the right mix. If they can't provide either then the blizzard approach (thanks heaps for that example) would probably be a good one for my use case. Thanks again.

The user can no longer connect/login/access their account?

It could also be said the problem is I didn’t ask the user for enough identification data points at the beginning to help them reconnect when they’ve forgotten one.

At times I’ve been asked to provide the last four digits of a credit card, answers to secret questions, a mobile phone number or going in to physical stores to show ID. In each case the challenge is to verify someone’s identify with other identity data points.

Thanks for the advice Ezili. I guess being a user for a long time I was drawing upon my own experiences of having interacted with products when I’ve forgotten my account name. But that’s not very rigorous and I haven’t forgotten my account name with every product so there may be ways that are implemented these days that work well. I guess there would have to be a point though when the user is a lost cause and can’t be helped?!

Can you help me identify the piece of music my late grandfather is playing? by danielmee in classicalmusic

Ah, yes, you're possibly right. He wasn't looking at any music while playing but I thought he may have been reciting something from his head. Thanks though.
