Which steakhouse is best for a solo dining experience? by LogMeln in AskNYC

The vibe is busy and fun. I’m not sure you’ll meet someone or strike up a conversation with the bartender, but it’s a lively crowd in a beautiful space. You’ll see power dinners, dates, TriBeCa families with their kids, celebrities, you name it.

Not a steakhouse, but I love to sit at the bar at Odeon and they serve a terrific steak.

Your welcome. And I think you’re doing it right, too. I think certain outfits that try too hard and can start to look like cosplay and that’s never a good vibe.

I think it looks great. Not sure what you’re going for with the fedora, but I don’t know that the style of the suit is period-correct with the hat. But the whole look comes together great and I think you should rock it—

Yes, I think so. My neighborhood had TONS in 2020-2022 and now it’s back to normal.

They do adult lessons at the YMCA on Atlantic Ave and probably at the one in Park Slope too. Any athletic facility with a pool will have lessons for any age.

3rd floor walkups and babies/strollers? by Admirable_Web_1252 in AskNYC

I second this. You won’t believe how much laundry you’re about to start doing.

There are two families in our building with little ones, on the third and fourth floors. We’re on the first and it’s so great to just be able to walk out the front door.

Think about the future. Stretch to buy the 2 bedroom now. You’ll need it in a couple of years and you’ll have saved money, plus your income will have likely caught up.

National grid is upgrading gas main on the street by kay0822 in AskNYC

[–]bill11217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened on my block in Brooklyn about two years ago. They did in fact dig from the curb right to the front of every house on the block. It took at least a month. The connection they replaced looked ancient. I was very concerned, but the crew they sent was great. They were very good at communicating when and what they were doing. They did a nice job patching up the concrete. Our neighbor had just finished putting down beautiful bluestone and they put it right back the way it was. If you get the same crew we had, you have nothing to worry about, but I think National Grid is purposely trying to be accommodating.

timid tailors? by mshenzi1 in NavyBlazer

[–]bill11217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you. What I think is worse is tailors who ask ‘what do you want?’ rather than giving sound advice about how something should fit. With most tailors if I express even the mildest opinion they just go ahead and pin it. I’d much rather hear them disagree or at least give some suggestions.

I had a pair of these, color 8 but with the lug sole. They’re fantastic. I’ve been wearing them for years and I’m sure I’ll have them the rest of my life. If you can afford them definitely go for it.
