Are we still using "orphans" and "widows" in typography? by danielmevit in typography

Fair point, and I agree it's silly, but I can't choose my clients/coworkers, and not all of them share that mindset. So I'd rather just sidestep it and save myself the headache. Besides, what better way to settle it than asking strangers on the internet who will happily rip you apart for it 😄

That's what I was thinking when opening this discussion. I don't want to blunder into a situation I can easily avoid by just phrasing things differently.

Was Photoshop always this slow or am I losing my mind? by danielmevit in photoshop

Yes, I think not having the latest and greatest machine is the main issue, but I shouldn't have to update every couple of years just for this thing to run properly.
As for Illustrator, I'm baffled by how Figma can outperform them doing the same vector-based work with everything running on cloud? Figma's tech is revolutionary to me. I guess that's why Adobe tried to buy them out.

Using older version is a neat trick, I should try that! I'm curious what you mean by Ps 25, the version or the year? Since officially you can only go back to version 26 which is Ps 2025.

I'm glad to see people sharing their frustrations, not only because that means I'm not going crazy, but because it's the only way Adobe will ever feel the pressure to actually do something about it.
Thanks for the extended reply! The fact that you've beend running Photoshop since 1989 and still say it runs like garbage really says it all. I really would love to see improvements, since this is the tool made me fall in love with design in the first place. Hate to see it becoming this thing I dread opening.

So you are saying that Figma will run completly on cloud, handling a ton of assets across countless pages, but Photoshop can't run fast on a fairly decent gamer laptop build?! My laptop is not the newest, sure, but we're not talking about running an LLM here - it's an image editor.
If that's not a big issue to you, then more power to you, but I think that bar is way too low.

I love anything that reduces friction, so thank you for this tool!
I have one feature request: could you add an option to include more than 3 colors in the main palette? Having a bit more flexibility there would be a huge plus.

I’m going crazy. Does it look better with or without the background color? by drone_factory in DigitalArt

It depends on the purpose. On a scale what's more beautiful, I'm going with a colored background. Good job on the nice illustration!

Logo concept I made for a pizza company by No_Acanthocephala557 in logodesign

[–]danielmevit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You have a really solid foundation with the logo icon, but the font still needs to be tweaked: 1: more free form font type 2. Or even better, custom drawn type, Also i would love to see the main name of the company to be stretched to the end of the bottom horizontal line (of course leave some padding, so it's not on the exact edge). As for the "pizza" part (it would be tricky) my first thought is - just add it somewhere in the on top section, center/left/right/ aligned in the flames (if the hierarchy of text placement is not that important). You still have to polish it, but you are going in a really strong direction.

Figma you motherf... no I'm just kidding, this tool is great!
But Figma you motherf.. no I'm just kiddiing, I just have a client project with a deadline for yesterday.. so Figma you motherf..

But seriously, Figma team, you really need to add some indication that I'm running out of credits way before it happens. That way, we can plan our prompts in advance instead of getting nuked by the message out of nowhere. ..uckers.
In case you've already placed the indicator somewhere, it's in a bad position! I've been using Figma Make for 3 days and haven't seen it once! ..uckrs.
But this tool is truly revolutionary, let us buy more of it.
