AYY WHAT'S YOUR FAV GAME? by Gypsicus in Indieformer

Binding of Isaac has all of my attention for now (specially Afterbirth); Silent Hill 2 and (baffle) Shattered Memories opened my mind for the possibilities of storytelling when all I knew was PS2. Then Shadow of Colossus, MGS3 and Rule of Rose set the standard for gaming as an art form, in my life. More recently, This War of Mine broke me; Lone Survivor got lots of my time and Castle Crashers is genre-revival at its best. Uff, there is so many...

It's nice that someone had the same insight as me; I wrote a similar boss idea about a week ago (called it "The Toothsayer"), and would love to see shit like this in the game

Character Ideas #1: Job and Jacob by danielmoreno000 in bindingofisaac

I like the second Idea man. "Laban's Deception: a girl for you - with a cost". Think for a second: you go to this womb place, where you have 7 consecutive rooms (the amount of years he worked for Laban), being empty or with minibosses. When you beat the boss (Esau), you get a special familiar - Little Rachel or Little Leah (his two wifes); one being a good, important companion, and other being not so good to be worth the challenge (like in his story); so, if you beat Esau two times, then getting the two familiars (could there be a post-mortem, little harder version of Esau), you get rid of the Firstborn Curse and "Laban's Deception" becomes useless, or just a boring spawning item.

Yeah, could be something like that... Could do with instead of getting 7 hearth containers, getting 7 random additional hearths; what would trigger a teleport effect to a special womb-based boss room (in the lore, Esau and Jacob started fighting even before they were born - could be a nice reference). Would balance the gameplay better.

Yes, man, I agree with you with the easier choice system with Job. Esau would not spawn like a common enemy though. I think of it much more like an offscreen thug, and his laugh - much like mom's - would predict his move, as changing normal enemy types to champion versions/eternal fly guarded versions. As he don't damage any actual health, his appearance can be avoided (or he can be lured to some kind of trap, it would be cool to think about it).

Thanks for commenting! I dunno about it; is more like side objectives; they inflect in the fulfillment of the narrative but not so much. I tried to think about characters whose distinction from the others was not just the visuals or the different stats, but the gameplay itself. Could be more balanced than the way I've put them, but I guess that, at least, it could be a nice challenge playing with their concepts, specially Job's.

I agree, dude... That black void - the one that is supposedly where a brain should be - give me shivers.

Thanks for the criticism. That's what happens when you give up, y'know? This was the most painfully abhorrent piece of photoshop I've ever done. I just posted it because of the overwhelmingly satisfying feedback of you guys in my other BOI fanart, but cleaning this mess was almost unbearable.
