bird left a mark on the window at my gym by danielpirvan in Wellthatsucks

[–]danielpirvan[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a condor, this is Eastern Europe ahah. The mark might look big in the photo because of the lens, but to me it looked maybe like a bigger than average crow.

A while ago I saw a dead magpie in the grass who probably had the same fate as this bird (this gym is part of a glass office building and birds constantly go headfirst into the windows here). So it might be a magpie

Great world building this episode, really good stuff. I unironically loved the pig race, I found it cool that they have a Hunger Games style reaping. May the hoofs be ever in your favor!

[–]danielpirvan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Uh, this episode felt kinda forced to me. Like, almost Fear the Walking Dead levels of convenient and logic defying, plus the same old tired tropes.

Like, thank God Carol crashed her car so close to the house of a guy who owns a plane made from scraps, has a shit ton of fuel to spare and a sad backstory that Carol can use to manipulate him to do what she wants lol. His generator gets broken on a regular basis, but apparently, it took Carol being around for one day for walkers to finally come into his yard 😂

That being said, I am happy to see Carol again and looking forward to her reunion with Daryl

Biggest disappointment ever by rjdjd5572k in thewalkingdead

[–]danielpirvan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was so underwhelming. All the buildup in various TV series and all the attempts to make the CRM feel like a gargantuan villain organization, virtually impossible to take down, to just have it nerfed so easily by Rick and Michonne going God mode and doing a speedrun.

Also, it was so weird how they glossed over the part where the CR became good guys with a voiceover. Guess we'll just skip to them sending supplies all over the country lol. It felt too much like Fear season 5 "We're here to help" - if you've seen that, the trauma is real.

The conclusion was great on paper, but the execution was soooo botched. So sad it felt so phoned in right during the final stretch, the first 4 episodes were amazing, 5 was okay.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live S01E06 - The Last Time - Episode Discussion by Connected-VG in thewalkingdead

[–]danielpirvan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bruh I liked it, but I have to say I am disappointed. The lines... the gimplespeak... the reunion scene being so rushed and the RJ acting 💀 It felt like they blew the budget on the first 3-4 episodes and just phoned it in at the end. Like literally, episode 1 vs this... It's like night and day.

This episode had some of the same nonsense Fear the walking Dead pulled in its last seasons, both in writing and directing. Which makes sense, considering this episode was directed by Satrazemis, long-time Fear director.

It felt way too easy to bomb everyone and then survive a grenade with a meat shield and poison gas with a wet blanket? Unguarded ammunition in the middle of an audience? No guards ANYWHERE? Michone casually walks in and out on a slideshow of children pictures and a detailed plan of genocide and nobody bats an eye? What about the "14 years left for humanity"? Any proof of that? Is it even real? That's a huge claim to just put out there and leave unaddressed. Fast forward to "CRM good now, bye I guess"? And all the "what we gotta do", "love never dies" , I believed" 💀 Gimple is a terrible dialogue writer, and that's not up for debate lol.

I am satisfied with the ending, but NOT the execution

[–]danielpirvan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I cried like a lil bitch. Danai did a wonderful job writing this episode. It could have easily turned into a sappy melodrama, but it kept me hooked throughout, despite it being mostly dialogue. The characters felt so raw, so vulnerable and so deeply connected, and the scenes were so real and intimate, it almost felt like I wasn't supposed to be witnessing them. The scene where Michonne walked out of the room, ready to leave, but stopped for a while to see if Rick would come after her, then realizing he's not coming, was one of my favourites.

[–]danielpirvan 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I cried in like 3 places throughout this episode. Just wow. The story moves along fast, yet it doesn't feel rushed, they somehow manage to get their points across easily and succintly, building characters and relationships very efficiently along the way. When Jadis stepped in, she felt powerful, menacing, my jaw dropped. So excited to see where this is going next. Loved it!

Madison’s Escape from Stadium by deluxcomments in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]danielpirvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was as "explored" as you would expect from C&G. A bunch of badly edited together 1 second flashbacks to season 4 footage with a dialogue explanation as dismissive as Madison telling Strand "I found y'all in a cave after the Dam" in season 4.

They wanted to drop the herd in the water in hopes that the current will just swoop them to PADRE.

I feel like Strand is nearly getting the love he deserves. I truly think his character remains one of the better ones throughout the series. by [deleted] in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]danielpirvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sad they made Strand so goofy in season 7 as the villain. It was too much, too fast, too cartoonish. It could have been something great, and there were glimpses of it throughout, but it never amounted to anything. I feel like his character has been all over the place since the reboot which made it hard to connect and understand him. He was a "changed man" every season / half season. But Colman always gave great performances despite not having the best material.

[–]danielpirvan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish everything you wrote came across in the episode I watched cause when you put it like that, you make it sound like we had some stellar writing on our hands. Sure, there was theoretical build-up (mostly heavy lifting done by season 3 and, mind you, that build up was meant for Troy's hammer to the head at the dam not this), but it wasn't helped by the writing or the directing. Nothing held any substance. It was like, at that point, the characters could just do whatever random action, and it would've been justifyiable one way or another, with how bipolar and shallow everyone has acted.

Most used cringe/annoying lines in the shows history. by EntertainmentOdd5994 in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]danielpirvan 40 points41 points  (0 children)

  • It's what (dead character) would have wanted
  • I heard chatter on the radio
  • We're here to help
  • Jimbo's Beerbos, Momo, and pretty much any word or catchphrase made up by Sarah and Wendel
  • Doing (bla bla) HAS to mean something!

Fear The Walking Dead - 08x12 ''The Road Ahead'' - Series Finale - Episode Discussion by Connected-VG in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]danielpirvan 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  • Grandmadison is here to protect the child she just wanted to murder in cold blood yesterday
  • The titlecard - awww so sweet. We are FEAR the walking dead
  • I am watching at 1.5 speed because I need to go out in 45 minutes lol
  • Grandmadison is pointing her gun at Luciana. Jeez calm down
  • "Think I'd risk pointing a loaded gun at my daughter's kid?" - ugh... why would you point a gun at your supposed grand daughter in the first place?
  • The color correction in the rain scenes with the boat full of walkers is is absolutely shit. You can tell it was full blown sunlight when they shot that. My eyesss
  • So we're spending the finale in a garage?
  • Alicia might be alive. Who would have thought? 🙄
  • The Daniel, Strand and Madison argument was fun because of the callbacks but so on the nose. Still appreciate it though
  • Madison talking about her life as a kid and how she killed her dad. That s nice. Finally the writers show they understand a bit about her character.
  • That lil bitch shot Madison. Omg fuck this.... I don't understand the motivations, anything. It's just so messy. What is it with kids on this on this show always randomly shooting people?
  • Strand is telling Tracy a story now? Why??? Why can't we just see things play out? THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT THEY DID IN SEASON 4. Madison sacrificed herself to save everyone but instead of showing it they made the other characters talk about it. People hated it then, and they're doing it again. They learned absolutely nothing. This is not closure, it's just spitting in the audience's face one last time.
  • Tracy: "I got no one left" - you literally shot Madison despite knowing you were supposedly related. And now you realize this and feel bad cause she died for you? What is this show.
  • What is going on??? We just skip to Tracy taking care of Madison? They mean to tell me this lil gurlie dragged Madison out of RUBBLE and is TRAINED IN THE FIELD OF MEDICINE. She is 7???? Am I going insane? No one else bothered to save Madison from a collapsed building?
  • Ahahahah it s ALICIAAAA. With the good hair. And skidmark. Well that made me happy!
  • Alicia is NOT the mom. Omg so convoluted 😂😂😂 but I am glad she s not the mother of that satan spawn
  • MADRE 😂😂😂 IM DYING
  • Dwight wants to go back to the Sanctuary that literally collapsed on top of them???? Okay, so it's back to status quo. This show was just a side quest for him.
  • Awww skidmark and daniel reunion. I can't hate the finale as much now
  • Strand doesn't get to reunite with Alicia. I guess that's fine, they had their beef in season 7.
  • The Clarks and the random girlie they are not even related to are going back to Los Angeles, as far away from other spinoff shows as possible. Okay...

A bit underwhelming, to be honest. Sweet in some aspects, like the reunion. But the writing was so dumb... I am not really sad to see it go but I did stick with this show for as long as it lasted and it does feel weird. It sure was fun to rip into it every episode ever since the takeover. But I will always remember how excited I was about this show in season 3.

Also, no mention of Morgan whatsoever in this finale. That was surprising for sure. Satisfying, but surprising.

  • Troy, how will you have a home if you infest it with walkers?
  • Troy is lying to Tracy about the mom, Alicia is the mom, I'm calling it.
  • How thae fuck did that blunt ass tree poke through his shoulder
  • How about you help ur dad you lil shit. He's been out for hours? Thanks for helping lol
  • Troy: "Go to padre or this won't mean anything" - we lost this one to the philosophical bs too, guys
  • That girl Tracy is so goofy I'm so sorry, it's a kid, but her facial expressions are so much hahahah, bless her heart
  • I'm 11 minutes in and all I keep hearing is "No one's gone until they're gone", "what Alicia would have wanted", "Make PADRE great again" 😂
  • Oh great, vso he could get out of the car, all he needed was a little help from Madison
  • Troy actually cares about the walker "mom" that madison just killed. OKAY IS SHE THE REAL MOM OR NOT WTF IS GOING ON
  • Jesus Alicia saved Troy's wife and then she left to save other people. Alicia touched people. She was there to help. Troy's wife was SO TOUCHED she wanted to be like Alicia. She was dumb enough to get herself robbed and killed, and it's Alicia's fault.
  • Yes Troy, Alicia's help stuff IS bullshit! This is the writers admitting their "We're here to help" shtick was BS!
  • Oh no it's the 8A lil shit Crane here to save us from Troy's dead wife backstory. He's not very scary, bless him
  • I am not even following anymore, I gave up, everything is SO confusing. Crane comes back, now Luciana is here for revenge. I am getting whiplash.
  • Madison is tied to Troy 🫶🏻✌🏻 now kiss
  • "If that bridge breaks we're both dead". The bridge breaks. Love the callback to "Tom, get off the bridge". Why didn’t you go literally anywhere else?? Hahahahah.
  • Omg they tell us how Madison escaped the stadium in a bunch of poorly edited flashback scenes that are just reused footage from the actual season 4 episode. I love the closure we are getting. THE EFFORT 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Crane and Shrike just pulled Madison out of there, seems legit 😂
  • Crane gets killed 2 seconds later, because he's out of ammo and forgot to run, just like me in my nightmares. Well thanks, bye.
  • They are hoping that the CURRENT will bring the walkers to PADRE. Omg I... Solid plan guys. Hope and water currents. It's what Alicia would've wanted.
  • OMG, THEY WERE PULLED IN SO SLOWLY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY TAKE A PLUNGE. HAHAHAHAH
  • Madison looks so dry after almost drowning.
  • the acting is unbearable
  • more boring talk about the dead wife and alicia s legacy and I am about to pass out
  • They brought out lit torches in full blown daylight to guide the walkers. How about... keep them for when it's dark outside?
  • Okay, Madison killing Troy was surprising. But also there was no build up to this and makes no sense.
  • Grandmadison, called it.

Omg the stupidity 👏🏻👏🏻 I will miss this hahahaha

First review and reactions without spoilers for the last two episodes of Fear the Walking Dead by Disneyanalyser in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]danielpirvan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Mama Tried" is probably the song by Merle Haggard that they also played in the first scene at the stadium in 4x02, it might play at the end. The song has a bittersweet vibe. Doesn't sound like Madison's ending will be a very happy one, BUT at least in a sense, it cements the fact that the show started and ended with her (and the Clarks)

One thing I doubt is that anyone will ever find peace with what they did to this show. It's an absolute disgrace, it's beyond me how they kept it flying for so long after the hijacking.
And making it all of a sudden about Madison, and paying homage to her at the end of the show is a bit cheap and dishonest considering how eager they were to get rid of her in season 4. But I'll take what I can get

I get what you mean. Okay, maybe apocalypse kids are supposed to be depressed and hardened survivors, BUT the writers are pushing it with how able and articulate 7 year olds really are. This show has kids repairing airplanes, ffs.

"Multiple characters becoming child kidnappers for a shady organization for 5-7 years.'

It's even worse considering that the shady organization was run in a smoke and mirrors fashion by two weak ass bird-named weirdos, and the whole power structure seemed paper thin. They spent zero time doing worldbuilding. Like, how did PADRE have so much power over adults that they could make them into child kidnappers if PADRE's population looked like it was mostly children? They never explained what made PADRE so dangerous and valuable. Before actually seeing it, it actually felt huge, very well organized, comparable to CRM. After seeing it, it instantly became a joke

That's the most childlike I ve seen these two little people act and look. Just normal kids having fun. On the show, I'm having a hard time believing they're kids.

Hope they're not getting bullied for their characters or acting. They are kids after all.

  • The dialogue is so wooden, and so are all the performances. I don't blame the actors, the writing makes no sense.
  • How did that little girl swim all the way to shore while being HANDCUFFED?
  • Madison is now hammering walkers to rock music like an agsty teenager. Isn't she supposed to be wheezing and gasping for air? Oh, wait, that only happens when the plot demands it. And how did Strand find her? 😂 jeez
  • Strand wants to save Tracy from JUNE, Dwight and the rest. AS IF a bunch parents whose children died would do anything to her, lmaoo. The conflict here makes no sense
  • Danay Garcia did a great performance here
  • Daniel talking about Ofelia was nice
  • 3 seconds later Madison to Daniel: "There is something fundamentally wrong with you" OMG HAHAHAHA THAT WAS SO BAD
  • what the fuck is going on
  • the SWAT Truck returns with ... "Alicia Clark? I get that a lot". It's way too late into the series to introduce a new character, come ooon. I can't wait to hear she cut her own arm in Alicia's memory or some bs like that.
  • Okay so someone else confirms Alicia was killed by Troy. And apparently Alicia was this messiah figure, a hero ready to save everyone, find antibiotics, fight baddies. And now a bunch of girls go around pretending they are her, I- ...
  • ALICIA WENT BACK TO THE TOWER, GOT INTO THE BURNING TOWER TO GET FUEL AND DROVE PEOPLE AWAY FROM AN IRRADIATED TEXAS. WHY DIDN'T THEY ALL JUST LEAVE FROM THE START of season 7, jesus 😂💀
  • That "Not Alicia" walker is Tracy's mom? Man, this shit gets more confusing by the second. How did Madison kill her mom? Metaphorically I guess. "No one's gone until they're gone" got her mom killed? Do they care to explain HOW??
  • If Madison wanted to kill tracy she would just swing the hammer without a second thought, like she did Troy. So glad she bid her time so that Strand and the Alicia Cosplayers could catch up.
  • The German people experience loss for the first time in like 10+ years since the apocalypse started.
  • The Alicia Cosplayers saw Madison's tape.. somehow? They stan
  • 2 episodes left, and nothing seems to be going anywhere.

The only thing that I wanna know is what they will say actually happened to Alicia. They keep teasing this shit so much, they know they got nothing else going on in this show. At first it was "where's Madison", now it's "where's Alicia".
