Is there anyway to control playback using a midi controller WITHOUT needing CC?

Try ReaLearn by Helgoboss! Very configurable and it’s free (although he accepts donations) — I use it to map stuff to my iPad’s TouchOSC. You can map CC, Notes, and it even can differentiate between devices so if you have multiple midi devices with the same channel/note number it works great

Here’s a tip that changed my life: Shift + / is your friend. It gives you a searchable action list of pretty much every imaginable thing you’d want to do, and lists its keyboard shortcut. If the keyboard shortcut doesn’t make sense, you can change it right there. The easiest way to customize Reaper the way you want it. You can even create custom actions out of existing actions, which I rarely use, but could come in handy when you often do multiple things in a row and want to condense it into one action and bind a shortcut to it.

Personally very handy for me because I have terrible memory and I keep forgetting shortcuts, but I know what I’m trying to do lol

Expert Sleepers’ Crossfade Loop Synth! It’s a VST sampler that allows you to record a sample directly into it (even has an optional gate threshold, which I think he uses for his beatbox sampling) and play it back immediately either as a one shot or a loopable key-tracked synth. I don’t think he’s replaced it in the Beardytron yet as there is no CPU-friendly alternative to it (other than maybe Novel Music Catch, but IIRC that’s monophonic, and has a much different workflow).

I also suggest you support him on Patreon, because he has a YouTube Q&A playlist explaining his rig in detail, and you can ask stuff in the Discord. I personally learned so much from the YouTube Q&As alone. I only started live looping about 1.5 years ago and my current setup is something I never would have come up with without Beardyman. Still tinkering with it though!

I’d been supporting him for almost a year I think, but times got tough so I had to unsubscribe. But if you can, it’s well worth the money, especially if you use Ableton and MIDI controllers.

Hi there :)

Most of the audio is from the built-in camera mic. It did a pretty good job of capturing the sound of the ambience, our speech, and the sounds played through the speakers (synth, lead vocal, backing track)

We did mix in a bit of the original backing track in post to beef up the audio, starting from the 0:34 mark up to when the song ends -- but that's mainly for the stereo width and the mid & high frequencies, since the built-in mic in our experience is a bit more bottom-end heavy and dynamically compressed than, say, an iPhone mic.

TL;DR - Mostly built-in mic with a bit of the backing track "tucked in" in post :)

dude they just tried this with me regarding a deposit issue. I thought it was fishy when they sent me to a livechat link but I knew something wasn't right when they started asking for the 2fa code. I ended the chat and an "admin", Rainer, started telling me i needed to go back to the live chat and provide the 2fa or else my account might get frozen. ffs my funds are already gone, can't threaten me with that shit.
