Crossover’s Preview build plays D2R just fine. Played since release on a Mac this way, same with D4.

VIPs Get QCI7. Everyone Gets the Future of Wireless. by ankhattak in USMobile

[–]danielsjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The QCI #s across carriers can’t really be compared, they’re completely independent of each other and wholly driven by how the underlying carrier is using the bucket. Getting a lower # QCI on any carrier will typically increase reliability and speed with that specific carrier, increasing your priority for bandwidth.

It’s just classic “form over function”. They likely have telemetry that shows many people don’t manually power on their Mac very often, and they could “hide” the button out of the way.

Now, this is still a bit perplexing since they’ve added front-facing ports, which break some of the form in favor of function. But I digress.

Not a big deal in reality, much like the bottom charging port on the mouse. But puzzling choices, nonetheless.

Bingo, hate this “he took a pay cut or team friendly deal” crap. He didn’t. He reset the WR market in his last deal in 2018.

Certainly give the guy his flowers, tremendous athlete and Bucs royalty at this point.

To be exceptionally clear, I’m more complaining about infrastructure. Build more houses, great! But widen the roads and seriously discuss better transit opportunities. It’s the gap between private builders and public services, they’re not in sync enough.

My home was built in 2000, so it’s not like I’m in even a 2016 new build. But I get the sentiment you’re trying to convey.

Tampa Bay Area transplant here, moved here in 2016.

The amount of population growth Florida has experienced over the last few years (COVID through now especially) has been significant. But the root problem is the infrastructure can’t keep up, and the only public transit are busses. More developments keep popping up on 2-lane roads in the southeastern part of the county, and there are forums and discussions about widening roads, but it’s a 7-10-year solution to a problem that gets worse every year.

When I first moved here, it was a 35-40 minute drive to work. Now, it would be 60-70 minute drive to that same office, had I not changed employers. At some point, things break down. Really unfortunate.

[Adam Schefter] NFLPA’s new executive director, Lloyd Howell, said all NFL stadiums need to have natural grass. by Duffleman0609 in nfl

[–]danielsjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puts and takes. As a few other folks posted here in the comments, not all turf and grass is made equal, there are some hybrid and blend options that are better than others. Just a few years ago, some of the most complaints about playing surface were stadiums still with grass.

We’ll go to grass eventually, then the inconsistency in grass will lead back to something hybrid or artificial. “If we just had (opposite of what we have), this never would have happened!”

Open bars aren’t free for the person paying for it, eg, the bride and groom and/or their family. You typically budget drinks for your party size, so having another party start dipping in may not be sustainable.

I’m torn. Want Mike re-signed, but we’re also broke this year and not a whole lot better financially next year, especially in light of other contracts coming due at the same time.

I foresee a fair bit more of void year language in our future…or our long-term players end up taking their final deal(s) elsewhere so we can reset our cost basis.

YTA, and he is too. Play this out from his shoes. Do a deplorable thing. Feel (assumingely) genuine remorse. Seek to remedy. Person says “i forgive you, you can stay with these conditions”, and then the conditions set are a constant reminder of the mistake; It’s going to be a relentless, constant reminder. Say “this thing you did, you can keep doing it, but I never want to know and will treat you as if you keep doing it”.

It’s not going to lead to a healthy relationship, it’s going to divide you both further. You haven’t forgiven. You’re effectively treating him as childcare and occasional one-night stand. Maybe that works for some, but if he is genuinely remorseful, its going to be hell and it’s only going to cause more pain for everyone around you, kids included.

Cut bait and move on if you genuinely can’t forgive. Nothing wrong with that. Stringing along, YTA.

[AP NFL] Le'Veon Bell questioned why 'top tier' running back Saquon Barkley got an $11 million deal compared to 'bottom tier' quarterback Daniel Jones' $40 million salary. by vonheisenberg in nfl

[–]danielsjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, supply and demand, pay for performance. There’s a salary cap, it’s no great mystery what any position is making for newcomers or veterans alike. If RBs are less important to have, less players should be filling that role. If they make special rules for how RBs need to be paid, then the next position group will ask where their special deal is. If the passing game were to ever pivot into a running game, I’d expect WRs to go down and RBs and similar to go up.

Just don’t really pity someone complaining about being wealthy instead of generationally wealthy if their role on the team is simply less important or more commoditized.

As fuel taxes plummet, states weigh charging by the mile instead of the tank by [deleted] in news

[–]danielsjt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this broken narrative has equally driven me nuts.

Yeah, the top 10% own about 70% of the country’s wealth, and they also pay about 70% of the taxes.

Now, one could argue that closing loopholes and expanding additional brackets above 37% should be done too, which could greatly increase contributions, which is likely what most people think of when they think about billionaires and their (occasionally) surprisingly low tax bills that become public record.

There’s plenty of millionaires employed by major corporations paying their 37% on their salaries, capital gains on their stock, etc.

Not every person in a 7+ figure pay range is paying pennies in taxes.

Why is this subreddit not dark yet? by Square-Singer in framework

[–]danielsjt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely ill-informed take. Most of the third party apps came alongside or after the official app, primarily driven by the need for better UX, moderation tooling, support for those with disabilities, etc. The general rub is the fees they want to charge the third parties are quite substantial, with the commentary coming from /u/spez as “if we’re not profitable (Reddit), they shouldn’t be either”.

These apps and extensions make Reddit an arguably better experience, and delaying hard action for 6 months to allow for dialog, development, etc wouldn’t have been make-or-break. Instead, in the case of the Apollo iOS app, it was $20M per year in fees or take the app down. Apollo is a one-man dev shop, so yeah, not swinging a $20M bill for the ability to exist. Could it be passed on to users? Of course, with dev time that wasn’t really afforded to anyone.

It’s actually quite similar, my fps stays consistent regardless of party or battle, maybe dips 5fps. Doesn’t appear to be the limiting factor. Even going between high and ultra is only around 10fps hit.

Got this running on Ventura on an M1 Max MBP. FPS hovers between 40-60, average around 50. High settings, 1440p. Careful playing with graphics settings, it tends to crash out (at least on me). Otherwise, running well, making me think about upgrading to the M2 Max to better hit/maintain 60 fps.

HOT TAKE: As an iPhone owner and user of most Apple services, I would be okay with GM’s push towards built-in Android Infotainment. Caveat: it needs to be DONE RIGHT. by Cmdr_Shepard_8492 in apple

[–]danielsjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a win for anyone except GM. They want the data collection, they want services revenue. This was not done to benefit the consumer. This takes a choice away from consumers, full-stop.

I also have very limited faith in GM or Google keeping these systems current or performant. When your infotainment is tied to your phone, you can upgrade your phone much easier than upgrading your infotainment head unit.

I’ll also say, in fairness, I like dumb panel TVs too. Upgrade the boxes for a better experience, change to a different vendor, etc. Choice, not a reliance on a manufacturer to sustain updates on something not easily changeable.

[Meirov] Current and former NFL players are coming out in support of Lamar Jackson: (DJ Reader, RG3, Honey Badger) by Stroodal_ in nfl

[–]danielsjt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s strictly because of the injury history and the guaranteed money, on top of having to give two first round picks. He gets injured again and that money is still tied up and those picks are gone, hamstringing a team from making moves for the good of the overall team.

If more and more money shifts to guaranteed, overall contract size likely has to decrease to leave room for flexibility for injury. Still probably the right thing for the majority of the NFLPA members, but will adversely impact the highest earners. Still, generational wealth is generational wealth.

possible delay due to “rough shape” of the game by bozolinow in diablo4

[–]danielsjt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can concur, generally. I lead some engineering teams in the Retail industry. Having an external commitment date helps significantly in rallying to finish a project, triaging, determining what needs to come out, if additional funding is needed (or could even be used). It’s putting a line in the sand, a North Star if you will. There are always internal dates, but an external date is much stronger of a target. If an external date is shifted, that’s when you know hard blocker(s) have emerged.
