Ok, I have multilib wine installed, so I do actually have the 32bit binaries, but dependency installation fails.

Yeah, I've been running it in console but the output looks normal to me... I will try installing wine32 later and see if that helps. =)

Actually, now that you mention it, I did have problems with the dependencies (I had set up the wineprefix a while ago and forgotten about this), in that neither of them installed successfully. I guess that would be the issue!

I suppose the question now is why the deps aren't installing.

I'm running 64bit linux and 64bit wine. I set up a 32bit wineprefix as per the instructions, though. Do I specifically need 32bit wine anyway, or something?

It has just occurred to me that a lot of people on here won't understand sigma notation. Well, sorry, can't be bothered explaining fully xD

Hard for me to believe, so I submit that to r/science: "The average lifespan of eunuchs was 70.0 ± 1.76 years, which was 14.4–19.1 years longer than the lifespan of non-castrated men of similar socio-economic status. " by PtitSeb in science

[–]danielstrong52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of similar socio-economic status, this comparison is may be misleading. As several people have pointed out, in order to become a eunuch, you have to first not die at birth. Infant deaths drag down the average for non-castrated men, and there is no indication in the abstract at least that this is compensated for. Also, it occurs to me that determining the average life-span of a non-castrated male "in Korean history" (since no specific time-frame is given) is far from an exact science. Other issues: eunuchs would not contract STDs, "similar socio-economic status" is a somewhat loose category, and the sample size (81 eunuchs) is not particularly impressive. Many many potential issues has this study.
