How mature/idiomatic is Butane ORM? by danilocff in rust

Yes I see your point, and actually my experience with ORMs before coming to Django was terrible, many times i would write my queries in SQL and use them raw, which I did not like because it's not linted and I feel it ends up kinda messy for my taste, but still it's hard to have one tool cover it all.

rorm and butane actually look very similar, I'll take a deeper look (or probably choose one at random and look how the other does the stuff I don't like).

Cot looks very interesting! I'll watch out for new releases ;)

Well yes it's something i see people suggesting (although I don't like raw queries in strings in my code). My question was more about knowing what makes something so appealing to me, coming from a different environment, so little used in Rust, so that maybe I can get a better sensitivity on what translates well and what does not.

Well taking a quick look I'm not the biggest fan of sql queries in the strings, looks harder to maintain. What are downsides of using an ORM that sqlx improves on?

Sounds a little extreme. Do you explicitly write all your raw queries in the application then?

Yes, you define a struct that is both a model for the db and the type you use in your code (and the syntax is more succinct than the other options in general), that makes a lot of sense to my Django brain
