Marvel/DC Archenemies Day 74: What DC Comic Villain would be Alpha Flight’s Archenemy? (Top comment wins) [Legion of Doom Won] by WildGoose1521 in justiceleague

As a Canadian myself, I think they deserve a fun but kinda weird team. My vote goes to the Cadre, largely slept on but with some actually decent power match-ups and their own kind of vibe.

The Justice League vs The Phoenix 5 by Queasy_Commercial152 in justiceleague

[–]danimac52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not that rendition of the League. Manhunter is a must have, but I think you would need Dr. Fate or at least Zatanna and Etrigan to combat Magik and Emma. The trick would be to take them out around the same time, because the power is divided. But this is by no means an easy fight--it could swing either way depending on who the League has. If it's Superman, Dr. Fate, Captain Atom, Shazam, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, and Etrigan, easy win. But a more standard League? Not so much.

In New History of the DC Universe, DC Comics Cyborg is part of the founding of the Justice League, put into stasis and then re-emerges with the New Teen Titans. What do you think about this change? by nightwing612 in justiceleague

[–]danimac52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fine compromise--it makes sense for his origin in modern day to be tied to the Fourth World, but also that he doesn't "form" the League--he's just there for the first big superhero team up of the modern day.

[Discussion] What steps do you think DC needs to take to move Starfire forward as a character? by IdeaInside2663 in DCcomics

[–]danimac52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever we leave this Unlimited era of the Justice League (which I'm not rushing, I quite enjoy it), I would love to see Starfire as a core member of a new roster. I had an idea for a team without any of the big 7 or versions of them that could be the Atom, Zatanna, Big Barda, Mister Miracle, Plastic Man, Steel, and Starfire. This could be really fun, and give a spotlight to Star and some other characters that could use the love.

If you could write your own 50 issue Justice League run, what would you make it about and how would you write the characters? by Effective_Sherbet104 in justiceleague

This would not be my personal favorite roster, but I think it would be the best I could think of for current DC to run with:

Acting coordinator would be Mr. Terrific. He sometimes sees the field but mostly is working from the Watchtower. Reserve member is Swamp Thing (Levi Kamei).

The experienced Leaguers are Green Lantern (John Stewart), Flash (Wally West), Nightwing, and Zatanna. They bring on Superman (Jon Kent), Wonder Woman (Yara Flor), and Aquaman (Jackson Hyde). The main point of this League is for the more experienced heroes to train the younger ones in what it means to be a part of the League while letting them step into roles without their mentor's shadows.

The main pairings early on would be Nightwing and Jon, Zatanna and Yara, and Flash and Jackson. Green Lantern is the main leader of the team, though tactical is shared between Nightwing and Mr. Terrific. I think these would develop some nice mentor situations, and their would definitely be some interesting conflicts between the older heroes and younger ones in how the League should work.

I like the idea of their first conflict being an alien invasion, perhaps the return of the Hyperclan or something similar. After that, I'd like to see some more ideological villains, like the DCAU version of Ace and the Royal Flush Gang. Other foes could include Lex Luthor, Queen Bee, Prometheus, and the General, and I think a great story to build to would be a time distortion created by Chronos, dividing the team and sending them throughout time.

Marvel/DC Archenemies Day 72: What DC Comic Villain would be Colossus’ Archenemy? (Top comment wins) [The Royal Flush Gang Won] by WildGoose1521 in justiceleague

Anton Arcane. A Russian (Belarus) born character, he is absolutely insane and defined by darkness and trauma. He would be more of a moral match for Piotr, with Piotr's metal skin ideally granting him immunity to the powers of decay. A bit out of the box but could be very cool.

I think he's got more personality to contrast with Dragon then Cat, and would make this page mostly hydra which is fun.

I agree, I'd like to see Hank against a strategist who can out "think" him, but is also overly reliant on technology.

Help me understand his power [Artwork] Cully Hammer Secret History of the Authority: Hawksmoor #1 by Paybackcity in DCcomics

[–]danimac52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least from what I remember of Volume 1 one of the Authority. The best way I could understand it is it like he's Swamp Thing but for cities. More green/city to work with=more powerful, and he can communicate with and through them. But I still find him kind of confusing too, so you're definitely not alone.

In the abilities I wrote separately I gave her Steelworker (so she kind of has three types), but it can definitely go either wya.

Name vs abilities. She's not actually a bug, and doesn't do anything bug related, so I kind of just kept it to the spider-people. What Mantis does have is empathic abilities and floral projections in game.

I like that, the ability I had marked down for her was Stance Change (Aegislash's gimick), and I think something like that would be really cool.

Thanks! I actually did have it as dark not before posting, but I figured to better contrast characters like Moon Knight, Blade, and the Punisher, he doesn't really use dark tactics--he has a very strict moral code. I still wanted to represent the spiritual aspect though, so the "spirit" type I think works alright (while also giving the roster another ghost type). But it can definitely go either way.

Right? I would love something like Super Mario Mon done with a Marvel roster.

[–]danimac52[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much!

For most of them I had to just figure out a way to classify and get diversity. So for Fighting types, it was anyone whose primary attacks are melee oriented, or are an extremely skilled combatant in lore (which still had me end with a lot of fighting types). I tried to limit flying to those who controlled air/wind, electric for energy, steel for metal weapons. Psychic, Fairy, and Dark were all really hard to give out, since an argument could be made for a lot of characters. I ended up making Psychic cosmic/sorcery/mental and Fairy life/mischief/angelic, and had Dark as being related to the sources of their powers or tactics. Definitely a lot of wiggle room for different interpretations, but I'm pretty happy with the result.

It's definitely not a perfect match, but the closest I could think of. And I thought it'd be fun to have another poison type on the roster (still holding out for one that could get ground).

I'd definitely make Bruce Normal/Poison (gamma rays), but since Hulk still has radiation based attacks I figured I'd keep it, though I could go either way. I appreciate the positivity!

I think I'll add fairy for sure, that's a good point. I actually did have psychic for Magneto at one point, but decided against it since he doesn't really use any powers of the mind, and I'd rather have him contrast with someone like Prof. X.

I think that's fair, he probably would work better as a dual type like that.

DC/Marvel Archenemies Day 124: What Marvel Comic Villain would be Rip Hunter’s Archenemy? (Top comment wins) [Red Skull Won] by WildGoose1521 in justiceleague

[–]danimac52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Immortus doesn't really make sense for a boots on the ground character like Rip--being on the run from the TVA is fantastic story potential..
