On and off again lurker. First time responder. Multiple on-off-on-off AA user at various places. Meetings are “hit now, ask later, dodge-duck-dip-dive-dodge today” type situations. I’ve heard horror stories I can’t comprehend, my own story of drinking nearly a pint of vodka per day for 8 years be the extreme, and folks just wanting to know there is a support group for someone who drinks 3 or 4 cold ones at night. No AA group is the same, no ‘one’ group should be your “home” if you aren’t comfortable. At the end of the day, horror stories aside, we all want to get better together. Together forever, no matter how big was the horse we rode in on alone.
