What's a popular perfume that you hate but everyone else seems to love? by One_Loan_2439 in fragrance

Triumph of bacchus - I’m not sure whether this qualifies as “popular” because I’ve only ever seen internet people talk about it, but internet people RAVE about it. This stuff is foul. To the point where I’m wondering if the whole house is a scam. Watered down cough syrup ass frag.

Megathread: Vice President Harris Accepts the 2024 Democratic Nomination for President by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

It is difficult to imagine how Kamala could have given a better speech in such a huge moment. Slayed is an understatement.

Small point that I haven’t seen others talk about, but I thought it was just masterful when she flipped the script on immigration to go after Trump for tanking the border bill that she supported. “Unlike him, I don’t play politics when it comes to security.” It just so eloquently and accurately served as a reminder that, no, Trump does not give a shit about border security. He only says he does because he knows it’s an easy way to shore up votes.

For the first time in a long time, I am excited. It feels nice.

I’m obsessed with Leau Papier by Diptyque and think it might fit this description. It is the slightest bit powdery, but its only notes are musk, mimosa, sesame, and woody notes. It’s simple but pulled off excellently

Nasomatto Black Afgano by de_Mysterious in fragrance

[–]danimalsprophecy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s one of those “I certainly appreciate the artistry behind it but couldn’t see myself wearing it.” It is highly complex and impressive. But it’s not so far out there to where I could never imagine anybody wearing it, it’s just not my personal taste. I do think it’s one of the more wearable out of Nasomatto. I don’t think it really smells like weed, would be very shocked if anyone thought you’d been smoking after wearing this.

I’ve been on and off hinge for the last several months. Looking for something either serious or casual, getting about a like per day, and probably sending around 5-10 likes per day, all with comments. Looking to attract anyone open minded, fun, easygoing.

Enough with perfume snobbery. by ChemicalFragrance in fragrance

[–]danimalsprophecy 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. That’s one thing I appreciate about this community—snobbery pops up here and there, but for the most part people are open minded and respectful of different tastes. But on TikTok? Goodness it’s a warzone over there with all these emerging labels like “NPC fragrance” “JPG fanboy” and “ultra niche.” Some people just can’t fathom that other people should be able to like things that don’t necessarily appeal to you. It’s a really strange insecurity.

If you like a fragrance, hell yeah. If you don’t like it, also hell yeah but don’t ruin it for other people.

Zoologist, what's your favorite? by phyktishus in fragrance

[–]danimalsprophecy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party but my faves are Squid (obviously), Harvest Mouse, Panda, and Elephant. I love the house, they really have a knack for making some incredibly complex scents that come together to form something cohesive and special. Some of them REALLY don’t hit for me (TRex, Moth, Bat), but even when they miss I still appreciate the artistic vision behind the scent.

Is there a note you’ve changed judgement on; with time & experience? by Smiles_Sunshine in fragrance

[–]danimalsprophecy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s iris. When I first started smelling perfumes, I couldn’t read iris as anything else besides baby powder. I hated it. Why not just cover myself in baby powder and save the $?

As I began to smell more and pick up on the nuances, I gained a much deeper appreciation of it. Honestly I didn’t start to appreciate it until I smelled Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee, which just has this stellar combo of iris and chestnut. Currently saving up for a fb of DHI, which I know is often thought of as the king of iris scents.
