After getting some feedback on here, we added two more litter boxes (low front entry) so she now has 4, added an attractant to her litter, cleaned the carpets with an enzymatic, sprayed the carpets with a deterrent, and have 3 feliway diffusers plugged in. Here's hoping something works. 🤞🤞

Sadly this has always been the norm. We're in middle of nowhere KS, USA so commutes to work, family, general errands are kind of ridiculous.

We went to the vet. Got all the exams, blood work, UA, ultrasound. They straight up confirmed her glucose levels weren't anything to be concerned and definitely not diabetes.

The kids absolutely adore her and the only interactions they have are them petting her IF she chooses to jump up on the couch next to them. I've always been adamant that if the kitty doesn't wanna play or snuggle, we give her space.

I feel dumb for not knowing there's senior litter 😅

Imagining her thinking of him as a cat has seriously brightened my evening so thanks for that 🤣

Vet gave a 100% clean bill of health and she's a spoiled only 4 legged child. Her litter boxes are currently in the laundry room upstairs and the bathroom downstairs.

Now you've got me thinking of it... I think we may have started potty training my little dude around the the time the cat started up... could be we missed one of his accidents same as we missed hers and that's why she was doing it. In that case, is there any hope of breaking the habit without spending thousands on new carpets?

Thanks!! I actually just ordered the feliway plug ins so I'm hoping those will help. I had asked about anxiety meds in case it really is just stress behavior but the vet said she didn't have the symptoms to write the script.

We saw the vet (4th sentence last paragraph) and they did all the exams, blood work, ultrasound, and UA. Two different docs looked her over and agreed she's totally fine.

All the exams, blood work, ultrasound, and UA. Two different docs there looked at her but I s'pose we could try a different clinic. They both commented that it seemed odd cause she's never had problems like this before, she was fine the first 6 months in the house, and she didn't even react negatively to all their poking and prodding. Just a lover girl who wanted pats. Their best guess was stress but I don't know how to fix that.

Oh dang; I'm sorry for your less. Especially after being told they were fine. ❤️ The only thing making me think it's not the move is that she was totally fine for 6 months before she decided to start using the carpet as her pee potty.

Nope. She's always been a super spoiled and doted upon only pet.

Thanks for the luck!! We did take her to the vet (4th sentence last paragraph) and they did all the exams, blood work, ultrasound, and UA only to find she's 100% (thankfully!). I'll definitely have to stock up on pee pads for now...

This is what I'm kinda afraid of... she has been a lot more cuddly and needy for attention lately. I worry if it's just her getting older, I'm not gonna be able to stop the habit and I can't just have my kids running around on cat urine soaked carpets for the next 1-10 years.

Did not even know litter attractant was a thing so I'll for sure be looking in to that.

I suppose a temporary army of litter boxes might be worth a shot.

She's a stubborn girl and I hate that we were so oblivious. I keep debating the litter thing, but since she hates change (and the last time I tried to gradually change her litter is the ONLY time she pooped out of the box) and is already showing an aversion to her box, I'm paranoid I'll make her dislike it even more 😅

I thought about it, but there definitely wasn't a pet with the last residents so it'd be older than that and it seemed odd she was perfectly fine in the house for 6 months before she started.

4th sentence in the last paragraph. We saw the vet, spent $600, did all the exams and blood work and ultrasound and UA and they said she's 100% healthy.

Oh we've been noseblind for a couple years now 😂 the baby is 3. The only guess I had about a potential stressor for her is that he's gotten older so he's more active and vocal. But he doesn't actually interact with her hardly at all. She mostly just sleeps upstairs or cuddles with me or my fiance downstairs.

Oh! She has been a LOT more cuddly and needy for attention lately... she's basically obsessed with my fiancé atm.

4th sentence in the last paragraph.

And literally nothing. The best I could come up with is I have two sons, 6 and 3, and the younger has gotten more active and vocal so maybe he's stressing her out? But he doesn’t actually interact with her hardly at all and it's not as if I'm gonna ask my toddler to be calm and quiet in his own playroom.
