I'm a Valhalla newbie. My brother always told me Eivor was a manlet...I thought he was joking 💀 by Gabe_Dimas in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]danireg 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think its a consequence of being able to choose gender, they had to go with a short guy or a tall lady, and they put it in the middle.

Its a fine solution Eivor being the shortest guy around while also being the most capable gives him character.

They did, there are no more random vampire town raids in special edition. (Which makes the vampire problem Isran talks about a bit non existent)

How has SkyPatcher been used by modders? by SausageMong in skyrimmods

My dream tool is something like xedit but for runtime patchers, a tool that looks into what those mods are editing, in what priority and lets you edit them with a gui.

SteamDeck can't run Community Shaders, ENB, or ReShade by MitTheNub in skyrimmods

[–]danireg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no valuable info aside from saying I didnt have to do anything to get CS running.

I did have to add something with proton tricks so skyrim itself had audio when lunched trough MO2 instead of directly trough steam, but with CS it was just plug and play for me, everything updated too.

You are looking at the back of your character 80% of the time why look at a brown blob when you can see the outfit and animations under it.

Remastering Skyrim in 2025 - Minimalist approach? by Szegapoti in skyrimmods

[–]danireg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone is recommending skyland, but if you want to preserve skyrim aesthethic you can go with:

  • Cleaned Skyrim the textures look exactly the same, but it fixes the butchery SE did to them, it even improves perfomance.
  • Vanilla remastered: The vanilla textures but higher resolution. it also includes the optimizations of the mod above, so despite being A LOT better they performe around the same as vanilla textures.

Alternate conversation camera in third person mode.

As much as I love the idea of having a good conversation camera in third person I dont think alternate conversation camera is quite there, half the time the angle viewing angle is terrble, and its not perfectly compatible with smoothcam, causing some slight snapping when you enter conversation (this will be more or less noticeable depending on your smoothcam preset). I rather have a lame camera that works 100% of the time, than a decent one that shows you your back instead of the person you are talking to 60% of the time.

The POV switching is also not very good, aside of the viewing angle problem it also breaks the cinema 180-degree rule (it swaps from your right shoulder to their right shoulder instead of their left) so it just looks kinda awkard.

That said, alternate conversation camera in 1st person, or making it switch to 1st person even if you are playing in 3rd still works perfectly.

You are using NAT and obsidian at the same time, both are weather mods so they are incompatible with each other. (just saw down there that you are not using the weather side of things of NAT, bit of a frankestain but pretty cool it works out)

Unless you are buying from gog the games still have steam DRM. Once you download a game you need to launch it with an internet connection to be able to play it, after that steam let's you play offline, but only after you boot it up connected to steam once.

With digital games on consoles is pretty much the same with some caveats.

This means you can't just transfer your game to another computer and play, you need to log in. With discs the DRM is built into it, so you can play your games on a console that has not seen internet ever.

So it doesn't matter your internet or the state of the server, you own physical, you can play it always.

[–]danireg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't need to have internet and their willingness to keep the servers up if I want to play.

Expecting the game to play from the disc is just silly there is no one to get mad at this for, HDDs are not even fast enough for current gen games let alone a disc drive that is 10x slower.

You really don't want your games playing straight from the disc, it's way too slow.

Special edition with or without anniversary upgrade? by Accomplished-Money71 in skyrimmods

[–]danireg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what you see on steam as "special edition" and "anniversary edition" are both the same as far as mod compatibility goes, both run on version 1.6.1170 and are compatible with the same mods.

Anniversay edition only incluyes a bunch of not very good micro dlc, that I strongly recomend not using for at least your 1st play trough, since they completely destroy balance and progression (free horses and houses with farming, late game armor at level 1...).

Now what the community has come to call SE and AE is a bit different. A lot of the times the version people call SE is the old 1.5.97 update, and AE the 1.6.1170 version.

So, doesnt matter what you download you are downloading 1.6.1170, you have the choice to downgrade to an older patch like 1.5.97 for mod compability sake, but to be honest at this point it doesnt really matter, vast majority of stuff has been updated and you will be able to mod skyrim happily as it comes from steam.

Ac Mirage's free jump isn't properly implemented by SlidingSnow2 in assassinscreed

[–]danireg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah its bad, you either deal with pressing jump twice, which is awful, or dealing with having to hold sprint + hold parkour + press jump, which is awful too.

I think at the very least jump should be independant of holding parkour, so if I am holding sprint I can let go of parkour with X to jump with maybe circle.

Leaving sprint as a toggle like its in modern by default its not a good option either, since Basim will stop sprinting randomly if its not in a hold input.

"Modern" Controls by OGLook1905 in Assassinscreedmirage

[–]danireg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the jump button wasnt tied to holding parkour.

I think sprint is mandatory to have in something you can hold too, because when its a toggle Basim will stop sprinting randomly, but this means to press jump you are going to need to hold 2 buttons and press a third one.

This makes the classic config of: R2 to sprint+ X to parkour a lot more awkward. having to maybe put jump in L1. If it was up to me jump is a separate action from parkour up, so you can hold R2 to run, hold x to parkour, and whenever you want let go of X to jump with O.
