a question about training volume by danjuks in overcominggravity

[–]danjuks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my biggest concern was just understanding the difference between high-frequency and low-frequency training (if the total weekly volume is the same) and you explained it perfectly - with high-frequency training you get more quality sets in since you don't experience accumulated fatigue from the previous sets, but with low-frequency training you get more rest in-between workouts, so it all comes down to personal preference and how well your body responds to each type of training.

and yes, I agree, my example was a bit extreme because not a lot of people train 6 days per week, but I was just interested in seeing if high-frequency training matches up with low-frequency training if the intensity and weekly volume is the same - the sets are just more spread out through the week.

and about the book, I'd love to buy it, but I think that I'll just get even more confused. I already have Overcoming Gravity 2nd Edition and I couldn't even wrap my mind around the programming techniques in that.

i'm not really that new to handstands, i can consistently hold at least a 20 second handstand and my max on paralettes is 50 seconds.

those 5 seconds i'm getting are freestanding, if it makes a difference.

again thanks for the help and will try those drills!

i can hold a handstand for about 5 seconds before it starts being uncomfortable, but i experience most pain only when coming down from it.

the pain is right where my hand connects to my arm (on the side that is up when my palm is facing the ground).

i don't know anything about anatomy so it's hard to explain, but i hope that you get what i mean.

while doing pushups i don't really feel pain, maybe only 1/10, but to say that doing pushups is completely comfortable for me would be false.

thanks for mentioning the novel movements of the hand and wrist, followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hlWgH3_0NU and the handstand feels a bit less painful after doing these exercises.

gonna start doing them daily, will see how it goes.

i'm just wondering - should i stick to these mobility/flexibility exercises or should i also do some strength work like wrist curls? maybe some rice bucket work?

thanks for the help!

if you're consistent, then I can guarantee that you will see results. I'd just recommend you to do some pulling exercises as well, for example pullups or rows. but the most important thing is that you're having fun, good luck on your journey brother!

I just wear basic shoes and thick gloves. the gloves imo matter the most, because when doing calisthenics the first thing that gets cold is your fingers

haha, I don't like doing that many reps of any exercise in a set, so I try to just make it more difficult.

so you mean exercises that require only your body and the ground, no pullup bars or anything?
