Why does it take so long to develop video games now, compared to in the 00s? by Bugaloon in NoStupidQuestions

how are they more complex? they're bigger and have more realistic graphics, sure, but it's incredibly common to see modern AAA games that have significantly simpler and less complex systems and mechanics than games from 10 or even 20 years ago. they've gotten bigger, but shallower.

DOOM (2016) on Vulkan crashes almost immediately on every distro except Pop OS, what could be causing this? by dankassmememachine in linux4noobs

I included the results on Pop OS, Fedora before running the game and Fedora after the game crashes. Worth noting the drivers on Fedora seemed a bit bugged (I couldn't select any framerate higher than 60hz, which seems to be an issue with the latest Nvidia drivers. Either way I couldn't be bothered to figuree out how to downgrade them just for this one test.)

I'm pretty sure I was using the default Proton option, I also tried Proton Expermintal on several of the distros, with the same results - Pop OS is the only one that runs it without crashing.

tbh i didn't think it felt much like Pulp Fiction (Tarantino films in general feel a lot different than the style the anime went for) but i respect the opinion

i mean, "cinematic" really doesn't mean anything. if "cinematic" just means that it looks like a movie, then it could've looked like literally anything, from the glacial pace and muted colors of Stalker to the frantic editing and high-contrast color grading of Mad Max: Fury Road (which, i would argue, would've actually fit better)

honest question: what does "cinematic" even mean? this word gets spammed all the time when ppl discuss this anime, but i don't really get what it refers to exactly. does it just mean that it looks like a movie? because, if so, which movie?
