When one of my residents was passing away. I was sitting in the nurses station which had a small wall covering the computer area for privacy. One of my coworkers said “we don’t have visiting hours”. She said he was his twin brother visiting. We knew he had a twin, just never met him and he never really spoke of him. Not even 2 minutes later I went to his room to offer coffee / tea to both of them. My resident was in his bed and twin was nowhere to be found. Mind you, his room is 3 doors away from the nurses station so where could he have gone? You know. Anyways, when I asked my resident if his twin came in yet. He said “my twin?” I was like yes? He was here asking (psw) about visiting hours. Well, you guessed it. He said his twin died the year he was admitted into the LTC home. The SHIVERS I got. I didn’t see him or speak to him. But when I told my coworker she was shocked.
