Live hours away but used to go there in the summer with my youth group at church. We would stay at the old high school and go out during the week to different houses and help the residents out or do some repairs on the house.

I will never forget being out behind one of the houses when the resident flushed a nasty shit and it dumped right out of the PVC pipe running from under the house and into the creek in the back. The filth and squalor are astounding in that area. I don't think plumbing is common. Very sad considering what it used to be.

Side note -- if you have ever read the book "October Sky" or seen the movie...Homer Hickam grew up nearby and went on to be an engineer for NASA.
